How to Get There
The pool, jacuzzi and arcade are amazing with activities for the kids and live music! We felt like we were in paradise. Then we ordered a late lunch from the grill and Chef Greg made our order just how we wanted it! Then gave the kids a delicious chocolate chip cookie! We love you Chef Greg! Thank you for making our stay so memorable.
Great resort. Room is full sized refer, range, oven, etc. we had beautiful view of bay and beach. Hope this is helpful: don’t wait on mine for the luau because the best seats(front 1/3 of seats) are reserved for large group sales. Don’t quite understand why all individual tickets including us staying st the hotel get literally 2nd class treatment (they “release” the tables for the buffet and they all go first). The tables are very tight so plan your seating and bathroom runs. Speaking of bathrooms, there was a long line for the women. The same bathroom that serves the lobby, restaurants and gift shop also serve the Luau. It’s a long walk. And the line...some folks comment it would have been faster to back to their rooms. And they were serious. Men’s room wasn’t as bad; typical. The show itself was really really good. And the live music before and during was Alda much better than I expected. If you are staying at hotel and don’t want the meal, the beach provides actually better or the same views as we got in the back seats. And the show is worth seeing (every Friday and some Tuesday’s). Lots of gluten free options too.
Wow, what a wonderful stay! My wife and I came here to get away from the kids and celebrate our special occasion. The resort was beautiful and so was our room, it was right on the bay! Deliz checked us in and we were sent a wonderful fruit basket signed by Leslie, Edith and Steven. Lauren and May assisted us at check out which was great because they were quick to handle the slight mix up! All around awesome stay!
Check out their restaurant, we called ahead because we heard about the jellyfish tank and were assisted by Dave. When we arrived Jessica accommodated us with a table by the jellyfishes. Robert heard we were celebrating a special occasion so he, Jacob and breanna were so lovely during dinner and very attentive. The food there is amazing ! 11/10 would always come back for the staff and ambience!!
Every staff person was friendly and helpful. Great room, just twenty steps from the bay and a block from the ocean. Good food and drinks. Michael Sanchez, a bartender, arranged the whole trip for us. Thank you Michael!
I wrote before about our family attending the California Dreaming event at the Catamaran's sister hotel Bahia on Mission Bay Dr. This year we attended the Sunset Luau, which, you probably guessed it, is an Pacific island-themed event. Entertainment and food evolve around traditions in Polynesia.
The buffet consists of various appetizers such as salad greens with different dressing choices, ginger curry chicken salad with macademia nuts, spicy bay shrimp and girlled pineapple salad. The highlight among the entrees is the Kalua Roast Pig (roasted whole of course and expertly carved in front of your eyes). The roast Salmon and Huli Huli Chicken are also excellent choices. A kids buffet and a desset buffet make the choices complete for everybody.
The entertainment is a journey from island to island with the finale being a breathtaking show by a fire dancer. And of course the audience, kids and adults alike, can participate and practice some dance moves too.
Our entire family had a lot of fun, enjoying entertainment and food. The Catamaran team and the events team provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Did I mention the drinks? Beer and wine as well as mixed drinks are available. The Mai Tai's are outstanding and set the right mood for a great Summer evening.
Come, relax and enjoy whether you are visiting San Diego or are a local.
