How to Get There
In general, The Bristol was nice, clean, friendly staff, great location, walkable to restaurants and even Petco Park. My biggest complaint is there was no dresser or desk in the room. There was a small "closet" for hanging some clothes but there was nowhere to put other clothing such as underwear, shorts, clothing that doesn't get hung up. We basically lived out of suitcases for 4 days. The only place to put the coffee pot was on the bathroom counter so that eliminated needed space by the sink. The shower was nice and roomy however we were provided with just one 1-inch square of soap to be used at the sink AND shower. I did eventually ask for extra soap. We valeted our car but on Saturday there was only one attendant and the cars were lined into the street waiting to be parked. We wanted to get our car and leave to meet some friends but the wait was so long that we finally canceled our plans because of lack of vehicle.
We were in a very cute room on the 6th floor. The room was well decorated (love the Beatles pillows) and the beds were comfortable. Checking in and out was easy and front desk staff and valet were very friendly. Easy walk to Gaslamp district and Civic Theater.
There is no question that The Bristol Hotel in San Diego provided one of the most ideal hospitality experiences that I have ever enjoyed. The staff, amenities, and comfort exceeded any expectation. The central location allowed for easy access to all that San Diego has to offer. There are few hotels that I would guarantee return to, The Bristol Hotel will be my only destination when visiting San Diego.
We had the opportunity to stay 3 nights in a newly renovated room. It was very well done, comfortable beds and a nice shower. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The only complaint I have is there is literally no drawer space - none in the room. I had to live out of my suitcase. The TV should be on a chest of drawers rather than what looks like a sofa table.
The hotel was a perfect spot for my family to spend our week vacation in San Diego. The décor is very nice. I loved the gray and yellow color scheme in the hallway and in our room. The lobby area was nice and offered coffee, water station to refill water bottles, vanilla cappuccinos, hard candy, brochures, and a selfie station. The hotel staff at the desk was very nice and greeted us each time we entered/exited. They were happy to offer suggestions when we asked or when we told them where we were headed for the day. The hotel is perfectly located in the city! We were there seven days and only rented a car for one to explore La Jolla area. We were able to walk to all of our destinations or take one round trip Uber ride max a day to places like Old Town, Sea World, etc. There is a corner bakery conveniently located right at the corner outside the hotel that we ate at several days. I would have given 5 stars, but the manage called me on our second day there saying they were going to charge us $100 for a broken tablet that was in the room. They called right when we were in line to place our food order for lunch and we had to step out of line to handle the call. We hadn't touched the tablet since we had two smart phones and three tablets of our own. I explained such and the manager said she would talk to housekeeping again. They ended up waiving the fee and I told them to remove the tablet from our room so there was no way we could be accused of breaking it again. It was an unnecessary stressor and we were wrongly accused of breaking something we hadn't used. Other than that small incident, our stay was absolutely perfect! I will definitely check with The Bristol Hotel first when we return to the beautiful city of San Diego!
