How to Get There
The hotel room, staff and spa was exactly what we hoped for. The westin served my daughters 28th birthday as a wonderful local option to enjoy some spa time and nice place to stay and relax without having to leave our hometown.
Stayed here over a weekend as my kids had a basketball tournament at several of the local schools. The location was perfect for us as it was in between the two venues we had to go to.
The stay was all in all good. Staff was good and solved the issues we had promptly. We were upgraded to a 2 queen room so it had plenty of space and the bathroom was large.
Just a few improvements I would suggest:
1. The self parking is small. I would be more inclined to valet if the charge was cheaper. But, I understand the valets are 24/7 and you gotta pay them.
2. There was a lot of garbage in the self parking lot. With all the staff going back and forth in the golf cart, I would think they could help pick up some trash.
3. I wish they actually had a coffee bar in the lobby. There is a space, but its not used, I had to go to the Scott's bar in the morning to buy a cup of coffee.
I would consider staying here my next trip to the area.
After a bad night in an economy hotel and with a little one, we were so glad to come across this hotel. Conveniently located to where we needed to be, comfortable room, spacious, clean and wonderful staff. Simone from front desk could was spot on in anticipating our needs and set us up very well for our stay, crib and all. She checked in on us during our stay and we appreciated her going out of her way to do that. She is wonderful! We will be back!
I stayed here recently with my husband for a business event I attended in Sacramento. The hotel is nicely furnished and decorated with an ideal location on the river. I requested a complimentary upgrade to a river view given that I will be traveling more often to the area for business and wanted to try out their nice rooms for future visits. The front desk staff just upgraded my queen room to a king room and told me that the river view rooms would be $50 more. So he basically left a river view room vacant because he decided $50 more is worth more than my potential frequent patronage. A fail, in my opinion. So minus one star.
We enjoyed the nice bath and separate shower in our room. The bed was very comfortable. Overall a nice hotel but I’ll consider other Marriott properties in Sacramento for future business visits.
I’ve stayed several times at this hotel when visiting family in Sacramento. It is the closest hotel to my dad’s place. If there were cheaper and closer hotels I would still choose this one more often than not. The staff is very friendly and eager to help, the rooms are clean and the river views are lovely (especially in warmer months with weddings). Scott’s is a nice restaurant with great views and good food. They have worked to maintain the hotel nicely as well.
The hotel does not bill itself as a 5 star property, so my expectations are tempered here. When I’m pleasantly surprised by something I count that as a blessing. So while I don’t expect turndown service I do wish the Mr. Coffee makers in the rooms could be replaced with something that doesn’t spew water. The decor of the rooms is not really inviting - there is little on the walls. If you are put in a ‘handicapped’ room as we were (we are not disabled) the mirror above the desk will be hung too high to really make it usable. I do like the full length mirror in the hallway. Robes are soft (and it’s nice to have them). Bedding is very comfortable. Room 304 is noisy though - you can hear the heating and cooling all night long.
But the little annoyances aside, this is still the property prefer to stay at while in town. When I have a really early flight as I do next visit, however, I will be staying closer to the airport and wishing I was at the Westin.
