How to Get There
Having grown up in this area I never had the occasion to stay at Dinah's...until now. It is a beautifully landscaped gem with a great history in this part of what is now Silicon Valley. There is a nice variety of rooms available--I recommend a room with a view of the inner gardens. Rooms around the pool area get noise from the pool and the restaurant.....not bad, but not quiet during the day. The rooms are nicely appointed, very comfortable bedding, air conditioning, mini-bar and nice storage. I would suggest requesting a room with a ceiling fan-----really moves the air nicely and is very quiet. Room costs are very reasonable for this area!!
This hotel was built in 1957 and had been lovingly cared for and updated over time. Still family owned by the Daughter of the original Builder. Visit the hotel website for more pictures of the property. Search “Dinah’s Garden Hotel, Palo Alto”.
We always greatly appreciate the warm friendly service, Beautiful Gardens and Poolside Restaurant, on the grounds of Dinah’s Garden Hotel.
Please Note: My husband and I travel often, usually staying in hotels. Sometimes we are luxury travelers, sometimes budget. I review hotels/restaurants at a relative level, not comparing a $100 room to a $400 room. To be fair, I adjust my level of scrutiny accordingly.
This hotel is a Delightful combination of both. Luxury and great value, at a very affordable price.
We stayed at Dinah's to attend a COL in Los Altos, for a family member. At the end of the day, we returned to the hotel and strolled a few steps to Poolside for a cocktail and dinner. Poolside serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. Like staying in an all-inclusive resort.
Our room, well appointed, attractive artwork, nice bathroom with tiled shower, tall shower head, great water pressure, nice toiletries. The bed had a firm comfortable pillowtop mattress, snowy white linens, and down pillows.
When you stay, please allow time to read the history of the hotel, included in your room Guest Directory. It’s a wonderful story.
Unique, peaceful, and so welcoming. Exceptional staff and concierge. My husband and I strolled the gardens, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Our room, overlooking the pool was very enjoyable. The view of the sparkling water and the lush landscaping so pleasant to wake up to in the morning. The pool is not your average hotel pool. It’s quite large with an unusual shape. Wonderful place for families to hang out while the children play in the pool. Poolside furnishings are very comfortable with upholstered chair pads. Plenty of shade umbrellas and sunny areas.
There are rooms overlooking the water and lagoon. Exquisite themed suites, filled with artwork collected by the owners, from all over the World.
The Sea, an Alexander’s, is a few steps walk, on the grounds of the former Dinah’s Shack/Trader Vic’s.
Checkout time is noon, which allows for a leisurely morning, plenty of time for Breakfast and return to the room to prepare for departure.
We have stayed before and will be back again in August. Looking forward to another stay at Dinah's and inviting local friends to join us Poolside for drinks and delectable dining.
Stayed here as many other nearby hotels were sold out, and decided to take a chance on a non-chain. Was very pleasantly surprised. Overall, the hotel took care of many little touches that made the stay worthwhile. Will be coming back here. Everything from apples and waters at check-in, to having free laundry facilities, to having a great restaurant offering a variety of breakfast options, etc.
Dinah's Garden is a unique, global favorite for me. 1) The staff genuinely cares about people. I have visited repeatedly. On each occasion all staff convey exceptional warmth, graciousness & hospitality 2) The resort infrastructure is unique: intimate, user friendly, thoughtfully laid out & aesthetically beautiful 3) food onsite is delicious regardless of what I order 4) I have never heard noise when trying to sleep 5) This reviewer genuinely believes Dinah's Garden & The Poolside Restaurant offer exceptional value, generosity & a most unique, restive experience.
The atmosphere of the entire hotel was relaxing. The landscaping is beautiful! We loved the ducks and the koi ponds.
Every person that we can think of would love staying there.
While the breakfast was expensive, the food and the service were both awesome!
