WOW! What a hotel! Beautiful view and great rooms!

Loved our stay at Oceanside. Really want to go back sometime soon. Walk to beach, pier and Ruby's on the pier were easy. Room was perfection. The bench seating on one side of the kitchen table was great for the kids and the area great for night-time talking and game playing. Rental movies were fun. Bellhops VERY helpful and front desk very nice and helpful with everything. HIGHLY recommended! Free parking a win/win, too.

Sleepless night along the track

It was a pretty good clue when we walked into the room and found ear plugs provided by the hotel that something wasn't right. Indeed, within a few moments of checking in, we discovered why. The hotel is about 50 yards from the busiest north/south train route between San Diego and LA. All night long, about every 20-30 minutes, the trains didn't just come rumbling by ... they blew their horns right outside the hotel. The earplugs did little to cut the sound and it was the worst night sleep we have had in a long long time. We asked to be moved to a quieter room but they told us they had nothing else and that every room was noisy. So, instead of staying the three nights we had booked, we left and returned home after just one night.

This is not a relaxing resort at all, and while the people who work here were friendly, you could tell they were tired of hearing the complaints about building a hotel alongside train tracks. Never again.

Excellent property - right next to the ocean

We did a 3-night stay here and loved the property. It is nice, clean and well maintained. The lobby is very nice and open and feels as if you are stepping right on the beach even though it is one block inside. The staff and the service is excellent. We asked for a few things and our requests were executed so fast, it was amazing. The property had a nice kitchen with everything - people come here and do their own cooking but we only used the kitchen for our breakfast and it was great to enjoy the breakfast in the balcony with a nice view of the ocean. Bedding must have been of good quality since I had such nice sleep. The AC system all worked nicely and the rooms had very nice fans that moved the air nicely.

In my opinion, the property is located on the nicer side of the beach. On the other side of the pier past Wyndham, there is stone levee and looks like the water pulled in a bunch of those stones on to the beach. We didn't go in the water on that side but I suspect that those stones will be in the water too.

As is usual for the LA-SanDiego belt, the beach has nice strong decent waves and we enjoy that. The water is a bit cold but in July/Aug/Sep, once you get past the initial cold, you can stay in the water for a while. We were there on the July 4th weekend and there were a lot of people on the beach. It was fun to see all these little kids squealing with delight in the ocean waves. For us, it was a perfect 3 days to get out, enjoy the beach and weather and the property was overall

Few reasons for giving the place 4* and not 5*. First of all, the parking spaces in the underground garage are too tight and can be difficult to find. Our bathroom decor was crap - I think they gave us a handicapped bathroom even though we didn't ask for it. Finally, my stay was with Wyndham points and the points should fully cover the stay. They asked for $4.50 to cover some new taxes but I have never seen good hotel chains do that - seems like there is some disconnect between Wyndham organization and this property with regards to payments.

But apart from the minor issues, loved the location, the property and the service.

Note: They offered Wyndham points and breakfast for a timeshare presentation and we didn't do that. But they were not really pushy on that - I liked that.
