I stayed at the hotel for business and chose the hotel based on location near the airport. The free shuttle ran frequently to and from the terminals. Overall the airplane noise was not an issue but occasionally I could hear some noise and vibrations. not enough to disturb me however. The rooms are a bit dated and could use some renovation and refresh. The fitness center was small but adequate. I did not use the pool but it was a nice size and also had a hot tub. The lobby is a bit dark and not very exciting. Our group ate at the restaurant. food was quite good and service was prompt. It was convenient to have a Starbucks stand for a quick breakfast option. I will probably seek out other hotel options in the area in the future. I hope that Westin invests in improving the property.
The hotel is near the San Francisco airport. It has hotel shuttle to the airport. But the shuttle schedule is not very frequent compared with other hotel chain. You will see many other shuttles come and go before you have the Westin. The hotel is old but spacious. Make sure you have the sea or town view room. Some rooms are facing the air conditioner exhaust fan machine, not at all friendly.
The room service breakfast is quite expensive. The American breakfast is 24 dollars but you end up paying 37 dollars including delivery charges $ 3.5 , tax and 20% service charge. The breakfast standard is average. The Starbucks downstair serves very good pastries and fruits!
They have free wine and cheese in late afternoon during weekdays, that’s good for wine lovers.
The front desk personnel is quite friendly.
We booked a king room for 2 nights. Took the hotel's shuttle from the airport which is only a few miles away. The hotel is in a great location and right across from the bay. Quick and friendly check in. The lobby is very nice. When we got into the elevator we were a little surprised by the stains all over the carpet. This continued on to the hallway and into our room. There were multiple significant stains all over the carpeting in our room. The bath tub had stains, the towels had stains. The room itself was well appointed and the bed was Westin comfortable. We were just shocked by the condition of stuff. Really not consistent with Westin in other cities. Nothing was dirty...just stained. We ate in the restaurant and it was fine. Overall a very nice stay. We could barely hear the planes. The staff went over and above which is why the 4 . If we were rating just the room, it would have been a 2. Lastly, we thought we were on a smoking floor because we always had to walk through a heavy smoke smell every time we went to our room. We also heard a barking dog. I think we just had a poor room location. We learned later that it is a smoke free hotel so clearly someone was being inconsiderate.
I love the SPG brand but it seems lake since they have become Bonvoy something is lacking. My wife and I stayed a couple of nights at the Westin and just trying to get to our room we were hit with this overwhelming cigarette smoke (of course we brought it up to management). The bathroom toilet took multiple flushes to send down any waste and the tub/shower would fill to your ankles when you take a shower. Who wants to slosh around in soapy water after showering? Oh and I did not mention it to my wife but there was a spot on the sheets boy would she have freaked out! The rooms aren't cheap and they gouge you on parking. I like the convenience to one of my wife's favorite restaurants but that was about it. I don't think I will be going back. If you decide to take your chances here bring your black light... :-)
