Best to avoid
Reviewed 2 days ago

If your traveling I would avoid Marina del Rey Hotel. The rooms are fairly ordinary. Nothing terrible but certainly not anything above the bar. The staff are not very pleasant. The worst is the restaurant which should be skipped all together the food is really lack luster and extremely high priced for what you get. If you are staying here for the chance to walk and see the area there are definitely better hotels at similar prices.

Nice location right at the Marina.
Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable.
The pool was a little small but they have a spa as well.
Nice fresh fruity water is provided daily in the lobby.
Hotel offers Starbucks coffee from 5:30am.
Venice beach is in walking distance of approx 15min.

Disappointing - Staff need significantly better training
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I don’t know where to start as my experience with this hotel has been nothing but disappointing. We are still trying to resolve issues with this hotel even after checking out. The time and money we spent trying to rectify issues this hotel caused us significant to leave a very bad view of this hotel & the staff. We are still waiting for over $3000 Aud to be returned to us on our card taken in error. We couldn’t even hire bikes without being charged twice - they lost our paperwork. There is complete disorganisation at this hotel & quite honestly a clear lack of training to their staff.
We arrived early on 4th July to check in, check in isn’t til 3pm. Tried to laze by the pool - was told the pool area was reserved and that we could maybe have 1 chair to share. Decided to grab a coffee instead and was given no service. Had to go to bar and order myself. Left the hotel for few hours and returned to a massive rowdy pool party of which we were never informed of. Finally given out room at 2.50pm only after checking and was told maintenance needed to attend to it and they never did. Arrived to room & not given the room type booked. 3 phone calls to reception and no one bothered to help & to top it all off the hotel charged us the cost of the stay twice to our card. Took extra for incidentals (appreciate that’s standard) but has now not only taken two holds of our stay on our card has also now taken the final room charge from our card. We have no comprehension of this, our entire 5 weeks in the US, several hotels and not once have we encountered such poor service. And practically speaking - rooms are nice. Location is great but the bathroom is exceptionally small for a couple. I wouldn’t stay here again sadly & I feel sad to have to share this type of review after having such positive experiences across the rest of our trip

Great hotel, lovely visit

The hotel was wonderful. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and accommodating. In particular Eddie, the valet attendant, was incredibly helpful, polite, and professional. He was so helpful with all of the questions we had about the area.
