How to Get There
My fiancé and I booked the Westin Monache because we were schedules to take our engagement photos in the area. We chose the Westin Monache due to SPG platinum amenities.
Our SPG premium status was essentially thwarted by the front desk at every possible chance. We were supposed to get a free room upgrade and they insisted we could only get a basic room on the 3rd floor. Our engagement shoot had to be postponed mid shoot for the next day due to high winds and though I went to the front desk and pleaded for what I understood to be a guaranteed benefit of 4pm late check out, I was told I would have to see if this was available day of..there was nothing they could do despite my explaining the circumstances.
I spent hundreds of dollars on make up and hair and now had the stress of sorting out the planning how and where to rearrange for shooting the next day and the front desk could do absolutely nothing to accommodate such an extreme situation?
Not to mention the free appetizer is actually a $15 voucher that only covers the cost of one of the five appetizers.
Don’t participate in the spg premium reward program to lure travelers to hotel and then not actually participate in the program. In my opinion, the front desk staff is rude and inconsiderate and should treat all guests, not just spg platinum reward guests, with much more respect and possibly even kindness.
We just spent a wonderful 2 nights in this beautiful clean hotel. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are spotless. The hotel is dog friendly. We utilized the outdoor hot tub and the exercise room. And the ultimate convenience is we can charge our Electric Vehicle for free in the underground valet parking!
Our first time visit to Mammoth and we were very pleased. The Westin is the only 4 star hotel in Mammoth and it deserves the rating. From arriving at the property the valet staff was friendly and connected us to the bell staff to help with luggage. We were upgraded to a higher floor to enjoy the first snow of the season. Our room had a fireplace, kitchenette complete with frig, microwave, sink and dishwasher.
The Westin also features the Whitebark Restaurant and Bar. A cozy relaxed vibe offers happy hour and a custom menu
Other great features include Pet Friendly with NO fees. No charge parking and no charge valet.
All conveniently located at the Mammoth Village. Lots of other restaurants and attractions in walking distance.
Recently stayed in this properly late Nov '18 and had a wonderful stay. Service was superb and excellent amenities offered for Platinum SPG Guests at a high value including breakfast and appetizer offering. I emphasize the 'SPG' , as Platinum status is generally better recognized in SPG properties(e.g. Westin, Sheraton, Aloft, etc.) than Marriott after the merger based on several experiences. We had a room with an excellent view and a kitchenette. Extra props to Barbara for acknowledging the SPG Platinum status in regards to check out time and the shuttle driver who took us to the Mammoth Ski Resort and explained the seasonal ins and outs of Mammoth. Would look forward to staying here again after a comfortable one night visit.
Just a note that this is a “condominium” hotel and apparently they don’t offer room upgrades to elite SPG/Marriott members. We visited before the winter season and despite the hotel being relatively quiet we weren’t upgraded. Rooms are well equipped however.
