How to Get There
I noticed recently that with recent stays with many of the big box hotels, I felt invisible, as if the employees were doing their jobs, but because managers did not lift them up and make them want to do their best and empower them for personal excellence, that employees were doing just enough to get by. Yes, the rooms and hotels were clean. I might have even received an initial smile from the front desk. However, something had been missing....
until I stayed at the Hotel Los Gatos.
What an amazing place. It has a feeling of old California meets elegant comfort. From the evening before, I spoke to Shaun at the front desk. This contact was memorable because I felt he truly listened to me and wanted to help me. I wasn't talking with an empty human. Later, I had the opportunity to meet WIll and Ryan, also at the Front Desk. All were amazingly gracious and caring individuals who had passion for what they did and created a memorable experience for me. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have a quality feel. The room amenities are thoughtful and really above what you find in other hotels. There is use of a gym down the street which is always open. And there is the best restaurant right at the hotel. The restaurant has a Michelin star and features delicious Greek cuisine. When you go there, see if Cristos is available as a server. He had some interesting things to say about Greek history and was exceptional at his craft. The food and service is amazing!
I loved this stay at this hotel and since it is very close to many parts of San Jose, it will be my go-to hotel when staying in the San Jose area.
This is not an inexpensive hotel even by Bay Area standards. What you are paying for is convienience. The furniture is a bit worn but still quite serviceable, the rooms are clean and comfortable and best of all, quiet.
If you need to be in downtown Los Gatos I would recommend this facility. You are paying for service and you will get it... from early 4 am wakeup calls and departures to room service.
One comment - the minibar refrigerator was overstocked leaving no room for your own 'refreshments'.
The Hotel is VERY convenient to the Los Gatos Masonic Lodge if you are attending a function there. It is literally a 3 minute walk across the street and two buildings up the road.
What a wonderful place to stay as a home base for the wedding of my daughter! We had a group of 25+ rooms for two days, and everyone was ecstatic with our choice of hotel. Old world charm with updated luxury fixtures within walking distance to downtown Los Gatos. Beautiful rooms, comfy beds and fireplaces, clean as a whistle, and great staff. Particular kudos to Noah the Sales Manager - there was one minor mix up in rooms, and Noah quickly and graciously took care of it. The front desk staff helped with my tux bow tie, the bellman helped with all the luggage and refrigerating the top layer of the wedding cake after the wedding. Could not be happier with our stay.
