An upscale suite at a sophisticated hotel with a rooftop lounge, steps from famed Wilshire Boulevard

The Lowdown

Plaza La Reina has all the luxe makings of a perfect Los Angeles base. Elegant, Spanish-inspired hardwood-floored rooms and suites with 4k TV? Check. A fabulously well-connected, 24-hour concierge? Check. A menu for in-room dining? You got it. There’s even a rooftop lounge, where you can soak up that famous California sunshine, before heading outside and immersing yourself in the tastes, sights and sounds of the City of Angels.
After all, you can’t be a base without a convenient location, and this one’s is right in the heart of the action – in Westwood and just steps from famed Wilshire Boulevard. Minutes away are some of the city’s best dining destinations, plus the shops of Rodeo Drive, for scoring some new digs to pair with your newfound tan. And the Getty Museum, Venice Beach and the clubs of West Hollywood are all an easy drive; just hop in your own car, or better yet, tap the concierge to set up an exotic car or limo. Because if you’re going to do L.A. like a local, you might as well go all out.

The inspiration for your room’s design is Spain in the 1920s, though the cherry hardwood in the flooring hails from Brazil. Sweet details include a 55-in. 4K flat-screen HDTV, premium full-sized Etro bath amenities and Fili d’Oro bedding – among many, many others. Premium Junior suites are 560 square feet, with a balcony or patio, while Premium One Bedroom suites measure 665 square feet, with a trellised outdoor space on upper floors. The Queen’s suites are 925 square feet, each complete with a 190-square-foot balcony apiece.

Centrally located near Wilshire Boulevard, this Beverly Hills-adjacent spot puts you a quick walk from the UCLA campus and a short drive from West Hollywood’s vibrant nightlife, Rodeo Drive’s designer boutiques and miles of beaches (eccentric Venice Beach is a must-see). Don’t miss museums like the Getty, just a short walk from the hotel.

Truly Superb

This is a boutique hotel with some 40 rooms or so. Each room is of a generous size. It is like a studio apartment. The rooms are well appointed and is quiet. The location is excellent. It is on the right side of Wilshire and within the Westwood locale. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. Underground parking is also available. We will stay here again without question.

If you prefer boutique hotels plus the luxury of high-end properties, this is for you! I love staying at smaller properties to avoid too much noise, avoiding delays and generally getting lost in the shuffle. The staff at Plaza La Reina were expecting me, always addressed me by name and even the smallest request was taken care of with 100% focus. Especially loved the spacious room (fresh air with windows that actually open), fully equipped kitchenette, full dining room and separate living room and VERY quiet at night. Linens and bath products were top notch. Overall WELL WORTH the money and no problem recommending 100%

PS Excellent Mexican restaurant Frida's across the street and Trader Joe's within a few blocks

Beautiful Westwood Hotel

We recently spend a long weekend here as we have family living nearby and were very happy with our stay at this boutique hotel. The property has a beautiful courtyard and rooftop terrace and the rooms are nicely decorated. This property is especially good if you want to stay in for some meals as the kitchenettes are well equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher and Keurig. Our room also included a 1/2 bath in addition to the full bath and a washer/dryer. There are many restaurants and coffee shops as well as a Whole Foods in walking distance. Out loft style room had great light with lots of windows and good shades as well. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Do know that this is not a full service hotel. There is no valet, room service, restaurant etc. on the premises. A staff member told me that they plan to have a restaurant on site in the future and some type of wine service on the rooftop terrace soon. We most definitely will stay here again.

Good hotel but no place for breakfast

The room was elegant. The hotel is very conveniently located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. Parking is available, secure and affordable ($25.00). Staff is limited but friendly.

Hard to know where to go for breakfast, though. There is a fridge in the room (as well as other appliances) so the best option is probably to eat in the room. There is a Denny’s across the street but we found it smelly, dirty and generally deplorable.

Outstanding - Better Than Advertised

Rarely have I stayed anywhere that I booked based on TA reviews that exceeded my expectations in every way. Plaza La Reina is one of these. My review follows, but suffice it to say I would recommend this charming hotel to anyone needing to stay in the Westwood area.

Check-in/front desk - loved being able to park below the hotel especially in this busy area. Beautiful lobby with intimate desk setting for check-in. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating.

Room/facilities - we booked a junior suite for myself, wife and daughter. Huge living room, very nice kitchenette and spacious bedroom. The room felt brand new. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Bathroom was huge, modern and also seemed brand new. Overall the room was much better than what the pictures show. There is a rooftop terrace (BYOB) that is beautifully decorated and has a great view. Our room overlooked a beautiful interior courtyard.

Overall I can't say enough about this hotel. As my daughter is attending UCLA starting this fall, this will be the only place I stay when we come to visit. I hesitate to write this review as I don't want others to find this place and make it any harder to get a room!
