Overview

An upscale suite at a sophisticated hotel with a rooftop lounge, steps from famed Wilshire Boulevard

The Lowdown

Plaza La Reina has all the luxe makings of a perfect Los Angeles base. Elegant, Spanish-inspired hardwood-floored rooms and suites with 4k TV? Check. A fabulously well-connected, 24-hour concierge? Check. A menu for in-room dining? You got it. There’s even a rooftop lounge, where you can soak up that famous California sunshine, before heading outside and immersing yourself in the tastes, sights and sounds of the City of Angels.
After all, you can’t be a base without a convenient location, and this one’s is right in the heart of the action – in Westwood and just steps from famed Wilshire Boulevard. Minutes away are some of the city’s best dining destinations, plus the shops of Rodeo Drive, for scoring some new digs to pair with your newfound tan. And the Getty Museum, Venice Beach and the clubs of West Hollywood are all an easy drive; just hop in your own car, or better yet, tap the concierge to set up an exotic car or limo. Because if you’re going to do L.A. like a local, you might as well go all out.

Suites

The inspiration for your room’s design is Spain in the 1920s, though the cherry hardwood in the flooring hails from Brazil. Sweet details include a 55-in. 4K flat-screen HDTV, premium full-sized Etro bath amenities and Fili d’Oro bedding – among many, many others. Premium Junior suites are 560 square feet, with a balcony or patio, while Premium One Bedroom suites measure 665 square feet, with a trellised outdoor space on upper floors. The Queen’s suites are 925 square feet, each complete with a 190-square-foot balcony apiece.

Location

Centrally located near Wilshire Boulevard, this Beverly Hills-adjacent spot puts you a quick walk from the UCLA campus and a short drive from West Hollywood’s vibrant nightlife, Rodeo Drive’s designer boutiques and miles of beaches (eccentric Venice Beach is a must-see). Don’t miss museums like the Getty, just a short walk from the hotel.

Stayed 2 nights for UCLA medical appointments. Room are converted condos. Very well done. Spanish plaza setting. Had decent view towards UCLA. Would give it 5 stars if it had any food or beverage on premises

Several excellent stays at this lovely boutique hotel!

Over the last year I have tried all of the hotels in the Westwood/Brentwood area, and this is by far my favorite! I have stayed in both junior suites and one-bedroom units, and while they are all different, they are all unique and charming in their own way. All of the rooms are very spacious compared to your average hotel room. It is nice to have a sitting area where you can relax in the room, and I love having the kitchenette to prepare light meals and snacks. The building itself is lovely, with flowers and plantings - very reminiscent of a small European inn.

It is true that this is not a full-service hotel, as many previous reviewers have pointed out, but I don’t find that all of those services are necessary. For breakfast, I frequent Le Pain Quotidien, a cozy bakery/cafe just two blocks away, or go to one of the many coffee shops or bakeries nearby. Housekeeping has always been very thorough (love the hardwood floors!), and it is nice to have quality full-sized toiletries in the bathroom. Self-parking is conveniently located underneath, so you can take the elevator right to your floor, and I love not having to deal with a valet whenever I want to go somewhere.

Finally, the people working at the lobby desk are very friendly and helpful, and have always responded quickly to my requests. Don’t hesitate to ask them for recommendations.

Looking forward to my next visit!

If You Have To Evacuate...

....it could be worse

My wife and my 13 year old daughter joined me in flight from the San Fernando Valley on a mandatory wildfire evacuation. We chose this hotel on the basis of cost, location and room size/configuration. My daughter had her own space with a comfortable queen sleep sofa. We had a king bed in a private alcove. There was a kitchenette and a nice bathroom, too

Not much in the way of services - no restaurant or room service, but lots of choices just outside the door in Westwood and a Coffee Machine plus a fridge in the room. Good trade IMO

The desk was very helpful and extremely pleasant to deal with

All in all, a great choice for family travel when you want access to Santa Monica, Brentwood, West LA, Beverly Hills et al.

Wonderful boutique hotel in great location!

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights with our two children. The large one bedroom suite worked out really well. The hotel is in a great location - walking distance to everything in Westwood village. Staff was very friendly and the rooms were furnished nicely and well maintained as was the hotel property. The kitchen in the room had everything needed for an extended stay.

Excellent stay!

Stayed here for one night on Oct. 9 for a business trip to UCLA, to which the hotel is very close. The best way to describe my stay was as if I was visiting a boutique hotel in Europe. The front desk and manager called me by name from the time I arrived, and were very available to give information about the room/hotel and the area. The room was beautiful. It included a kitchen set up, pretty much everything you'd need if you were there for an extended stay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was immaculate, beautiful and very functional. I highly recommend Plaza La Reina. The way that the building looks from the outside does not do the inside justice, but once inside I experienced one of the best hotel stays in recent memory.
