How to Get There
- convenient location, next to staples center, la live, restaurants
- receptionist is super friendly and helpful
- bathrooms are clean
- wifi sucks, extremely slow and stops working at moments, on our last night it stopped working all together
- beds are so soft, I had back pain every single day
- breakfast is horrible
- I ordered room service one night and left the plates outside, for two whole days the tray sat outside, no one bothered to pick it up
- cleaning crew makes beds but doesn't pick up trash
- elevators are super old and slow
- room service only works 4-11pm
- at check out, system was down so the receptionist (a new one) said we couldn't check out (???)
Conclusion: would not recommend.
I stayed there for three nights and then had to change hotels. While I was away from my room on several occasions someone entered my room and took some of my items. I had to file a police report. They also took food out of the supplied refrigerator and left it on the floor. Housekeeping left dirty dust rags in the room and left a waste basket knocked over in the room. My suitcase was also damaged while I was away from my room. The head of security also serves as a bellman and takes cash tips. This place is not safe. When I went to a different hotel, they did pay the difference in price but didn’t offer to pay for my damaged suitcase or missing items.
I booked this thru Booking.com and paid in advance for the room. This is not something I would do again, paying in full - site unseen! Yikes so that got me worried, followed up with reading some of the negative reviews I was expecting the worst but got a great room!
The check in was easy and simple, our room faced Figueroa St. - Staples Centre and yes when there is something going on across the street that attracts thousands of people, it will get a little loud outside, but it does not last forever!
Our bellmen noticed we had a lot of our own drinks, so he suggested we call down for our own fridge as the ones in the rooms are filled with the minibars and if you even move them, you can get charged, nice to get the fridge delivered and not have to worry about anything.
Parking is expensive, but it is downtown LA, so with any other major city, expect to spent $45/day to park your car.
I just stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and I'm very surprised by the negative reviews I've just read, they don't reflect my experience at all. I found the rooms spacious, well-appointed and clean. The beds were very comfortable with nice linen, there were plenty of thick towels in the bathroom and a well-stocked mini bar. The air conditioning/heat unit was loud as other reviewers have noted, but I found it provided white noise that blocked out the traffic sounds and made it very easy to sleep. My room was on the front of the hotel on the 8th floor and I wasn't bothered by noise from traffic, my neighbours or the bar, although one of my colleagues did complain about being kept awake by the people in the room next door.
I was in L.A. for meetings at the hotel and we had breakfast, lunch and a dinner there, and I found the food good for this type of thing. I also had dinner in the bar one night and the food was good there too. And the hotel has a beautiful patio bar on the second floor.
I found the staff all very friendly and helpful. And you can't beat the downtown location. It's an easy walk to the financial district buildings and you're right by the Staples Center, the Microsoft Theater, LA Live and the Grammy Museum. There were lots of restaurant choices around at LA Live, down Figuerora and on some of the surrounding streets.
My only complaint is that the pressure on the waterfall shower wasn't great, but lots of hot water.

We arrived for our 3 night stay late in the evening and it was clear the person at the desk was ready to go home. After getting checked in and up to the small, dated room we realized that there are zero food options after 1AM so we went exploring across the street at City Center only to find that none of the open bars had an open kitchen, so we were forced to order from one of the food trucks. We got back to the room and ate before we started to get ready for bed. Here is where things took a turn...it started with a pube on the toilet seat (ick!) but we got past it. My wife threw back the covers to get into bed and there was a nasty brown spot on the sheets (right where someone's bodily fluids would have been) as well as black makeup marks on the pillowcase. Clearly the linens had not been changed! We called down three times and no one answered so we were forced to sleep on top of the covers with the bathrobes as a blanket. The heat/AC unit ran non stop and was on a timer so it went from too warm to freezing during the night. FYI the unit was REALLY loud too so if you don't like sleeping with ambient noise you will not like it. After 4ish hours of sleep we awoke and decided to check out and go to another nearby hotel (Figueroa). I did grab a quick bite at the on property restaurant and it was fine, and it was the only reason this gets a 2 star. I went down to the front desk to explain what the issues were and when I said we had trouble with the room and would like to check out early the guy simply said "Ok" and checked me out. He didn't even ask what the problems were nor did he ask if the could be corrected! No wonder the room was neglected. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
