Loews Hollywood is part of the Hollywood & Highland Center, a major shopping and entertainment complex in central LA, so things are always hopping here (plus, there are more than 600 rooms to boot). The hotel was renovated in 2014 and the rooms, now fairly spacious, feature plenty of charging ports, Keurig coffeemakers, and modern furniture. This is the hotel to stay in if you’re planning to hit the famous Hollywood sights or if you’re in town for a convention (which makes this a hot destination for tourists). The property has two restaurants—a casual snack bar by the pool and an all-day dining spot for American cuisine—but its proximity to the shopping center means there are plenty of other options just steps away. The hotel’s rooftop pool is also worth visiting for the views and the comfy sun loungers. Its trump card, however, is the sheer variety of opportunities for keeping children and teens entertained in between excursions to tourist attractions, which makes it highly recommended for families.
In the Area
For anyone making their first visit to Los Angeles, Loews’ location can’t be beat. You’re just steps from Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and the TCL Chinese Theatre, (once famously known as the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), as well as the Walk of Fame. Just a few miles north of the hotel is the Universal Studios theme park, as well as the fabulous art collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Ice Age excavation site known as the La Brea Tar Pits are close to each other and within a 20-minute drive. For explorations outside Hollywood, there’s a Red Line metro station just behind the hotel.
How to Get There
We stayed at this hotel for one night for our sons 18th birthday and it was way overpriced for what you get. You do not get free parking with your stay despite what you pay for a room with a standard view. The best part of this hotel was that you could easily access the mall and Hollywood Blvd from an access point in the hotel, other than that 100% not worth the money they charge for a room in November.
Helpful staff, room very clean and comfortable, easy access to hollywood boulevard via the pool and into shopping mall. Breakfast not included in room rate but as we only stayed 3 nights and didnt know the area at all it was ok. Slightly confusing at first to work out wether the buffet was better or off the menu. No food available for the rest of the day other than a mini shop behind reception.
We went there for our honeymoon and it was our first trip to the US. It was the Best hotel ever for us!!!! :-D we would recommend to others and def visit here again for our next trip!!! Thanks for the hospitality. You made our long trip worthy.
