Loews Hollywood is part of the Hollywood & Highland Center, a major shopping and entertainment complex in central LA, so things are always hopping here (plus, there are more than 600 rooms to boot). The hotel was renovated in 2014 and the rooms, now fairly spacious, feature plenty of charging ports, Keurig coffeemakers, and modern furniture. This is the hotel to stay in if you’re planning to hit the famous Hollywood sights or if you’re in town for a convention (which makes this a hot destination for tourists). The property has two restaurants—a casual snack bar by the pool and an all-day dining spot for American cuisine—but its proximity to the shopping center means there are plenty of other options just steps away. The hotel’s rooftop pool is also worth visiting for the views and the comfy sun loungers. Its trump card, however, is the sheer variety of opportunities for keeping children and teens entertained in between excursions to tourist attractions, which makes it highly recommended for families.
In the Area
For anyone making their first visit to Los Angeles, Loews’ location can’t be beat. You’re just steps from Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and the TCL Chinese Theatre, (once famously known as the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre), as well as the Walk of Fame. Just a few miles north of the hotel is the Universal Studios theme park, as well as the fabulous art collections at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Ice Age excavation site known as the La Brea Tar Pits are close to each other and within a 20-minute drive. For explorations outside Hollywood, there’s a Red Line metro station just behind the hotel.
How to Get There
Excellent stay while attending a workshop - staff was all amazing, courteous. Room service excellent. Cleanliness of my room wonderful. Nice view, lovely upgrade to a suite was offered & accepted - wonderful overall!
By far my favorite hotel. Ever. The location is amazing, you walk outside & you’re already at the Hollywood walk of fame. Lots of stores & restaurants near by. Excellent view of the Hollywood sign. Worth the price. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms. Breakfast available at an extra cost.
Visiting for a conference at the hotel, it was very convenient to pop back to the room during breaks. It was a fantastic location to see the Hollywood sights just minutes from your room. I rented a car so I dropped my bags at the valet, they gave me a ticket to allow them to bring the luggage to the room at check in and I parked in attached garage for $15 a day. I also was able to easily take a Lyft or Uber to other locations in West Hollywood or Venice beach. I had a beautiful city view and could also see the Hollywood sign from the Highland center walkway. The only downside was there wasn’t very good poolside service the days I went, I sat by the pool intending to order lunch and drinks but no one came by so I ended up leaving for lunch elsewhere.
In the center of LA’s “tourist mecca”—not my fav as a local resident. Heavy traffic...both pedestrian and cars. Hotel has a great meeting/event venue. Rooms are decent, not amazing...one of the better options in the area.
Lovely hotel with fantastic friendly staff... shame about the very out of date bathroom. The perfect location for exploring all Hollywood has to offer as well as day trips to Malibu, Santa Monica and Venice beach. Make sure you try the truffle fries at the hotel bar!
