How to Get There
I stayed here for 5 nights for a conference in July. The location was super for my needs and lobby/public spaces, meeting rooms, and staff were great. Room was big, bed was comfy, bathroom spacious and well-appointed. However, there was dark black hair all over the ceiling of my bathroom when I arrived. (EW!!) There was often room service food trays left overnight in the halls that took hours well into the following day for someone to pick up. Similarly, abandoned drinks, etc were often in the elevator area and never picked up. My room faced the pool which caused two issues. One, there was a DJ so when I was trying to work in the afternoon, I could not focus at all as the music was very loud. Two, the ridiculous giant LED billboard on that side of the building was like facing the surface of the sun at night. I had to MacGyver the curtains and wear a t-shirt over my head in order to sleep at night. I asked to change rooms but they were fully booked. If I have another meeting at the convention center, I would possibly stay here again but only if I had a room on a high floor facing Olympic Blvd but I'm more likely to stay at the Ritz next door.
One of our favorite hotels - the JW is perfectly located for events at the convention center or at the Staples Center. Lots of walkable restaurants and close to other area hotels (our friends stayed across the street. The staff is wonderful - especially David in the concierge lounge and Alex at the front desk. Both of them bent over backwards to help us and make our stay memorable. Can't forget to mention Victor the bellman was also super helpful, friendly and helped us figure out our LA Logistics (how to get from here to there in the easiest way). Great views from most of the rooms and a fabulous rooftop pool. Nice rooms with good TV's and housekeeping staff was very attentive.
Very nice rooms. Huge showers. Easy access to Staples and the Convention Center. our event had catered food and the mushroom tortellini and chicken were fabulous!! Rooms were quiet, did not hear the other hotel guests or their tvs at all and the hotel was booked solid.
