Overview

Luxurious modern sleep in L.A.’s Century City with an infinity pool, divine day spa and balconies or terraces in every guestroom

The Lowdown

Start your stay with a visit to the Spa InterContinental and get the Traveler’s Tonic Massage, a combination of Swedish and deep tissue massage and aromatherapy designed to fight travel fatigue. Spend the afternoon lounging around your private spa villa and making the most of the facilities, which include a sauna, an outdoor Jacuzzi and an infinity pool. Then head to lunch at chef Jonathan Wood’s eclectic Park Grill (breakfast, brunch and dinner are on offer too). Back in your room, take in the views of Hollywood, Downtown or the Pacific Ocean from the comfort of your private balcony or terrace. During the summer you can also get a bird’s-eye view of the city from the 18th-floor helipad, where free yoga classes are held.

In the Area

The concierge recommends beginning the day with a stroll to Clementine restaurant for a healthy breakfast, followed by long walk around one of L.A.’s prettiest green spaces, Holmby Park. If the weather is good, drive up to Zuma Beach in Malibu — pack a picnic lunch or head to Geoffrey’s for California cuisine served alfresco overlooking the Pacific. When you’ve gotten enough sun, make a visit to the Richard Meier-designed Getty Center where the beautiful gardens and gorgeous L.A. views are as impressive as the art collection.

Star Location

Located right in the middle of movie land the hotel runs clips of famous movies in which it featured. I enjoyed the ocean view from balcony on the 16th floor and also found the concierge very helpful in finding me a jazz club.

Minor niggles: I found the bar area a bit cramped, the checkin queues a bit long and missed the drinks deals/offers which other Intercontinental Hotels offer their Ambassador guests.

Classic luxury

From the moment I opened the door to my executive suite apartment, I was in awe of the room. I appreciated size, cleanliness, the lengthy balcony and onsuite bathroom with separate tub and shower. The flat screens in both the living room and bedroom were clear and large. The bed was comfortable and there were several toiletries in the room. There were robes in the closet with slippers as well. The only down side was that I was allergic to the soap. Hypoallergenic soap is needed.

The hotel is kept well. Carpets are in the hallways and in rooms. The gym is not huge but sufficient. The restaurant and bar service was good but a little on the pricey side, especially for room service. The pool was outdoors. The hotel has traditional architecture and setup with modern decor. I would stay here again.

What an extraordinary unexpected experience!!!

Luxury price for budget facilities

Stayed in a business suite here for one night for a meeting nearby. The room smelled like cleaning solution. The desk was damaged. Bathroom was big but shower was very small: lots of wasted space. There was no amenities of any kind other than shampoo, condition, and lotion. The balcony light is on until 1am: you can't turn it off - it's central. If I come back to the same area, I'd look for another place to stay.

Excellent customer service!

I have been staying at this hotel 1-2 times for the past 9 months. The customer service is outstanding. Of particular note, is the service I received from Concierge Rozie Bacchi. Although not her role, she helped me get the shower head in my room replaced, as well as getting a stain removed from the carpet. Typically, I never have these types of problems at this hotel. However, Rozie was instrumental in getting these issues fixed. In addition, when I checked out, I was erroneously charged for using the mini-bar. Because I wasn't getting prompt service from the front desk (I'm sure they were busy), Rozie was responsible for getting this error fixed for me and ensure a credit to my account. Rozie really went above and beyond what you would expect of typical guest service and I truly appreciated it. I have never experienced these types of issues from this hotel in the past, so I think my problems were an anomaly. I would highly recommend this hotel for its excellent customer service.
