How to Get There
I lived in the area for 15 years and never knew this hotel was here! I recently moved from the area and needed a place to stay. The Chamberlain is tucked away in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood. It's a beautiful property with friendly staff. Everything is clean and new. Very comfortable, and close to so much. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
We stayed here over Easter weekend. We were surprised when we pulled up and found out it was mandatory valet parking for $45 per day. I must've missed that when I booked, along with the additional $25 amenity fee per day, and then of course all of the additional taxes on top of it.
Our room was very nice, we actually loved the layout, however, if I may make a suggestion to the hotel staff, placing a family with children above our room, was not a good idea. We had been out later in the evening on Friday (not drinking though) and the kids above our room were up very early and never stopped running around. I guess the parents didn't think that people below them may be trying to sleep at 7:30am on a Saturday. If we didn't have this issue, our stay would've been more enjoyable.
The rooftop pool and view were beautiful but the weather was pretty chilly so we didn't get to enjoy it so that $25 amenity fee was kind of for not.
Overall, the location, room and courteous staff would rate 5 stars, but the parking and amenity fees, along with the noisiness of the room above us is why I rated it 4 stars.
Stayed here for a family vacation only to be met with issue after issue. Had an issue with our room and asked to change rooms which they kept saying “can happen today” with no update of when and when asked if they knew was given an attitude. They were almost dismissive.
Disappointing because it’s a great location but there are other more quality hotels in the area better worth your money. The breakfast and dinner room service options were also subpar and overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food you get. Won’t be a repeat customer.
We live in northern CA and come down to southern CA regularly for sun & pool time. We usually stay at the Petite Hermitage in West Holllywood, but figured we'd try to the newly-renovated Chamberlain.
The website, room description, and confirmation make a big deal talking about the amazing renovated pool, and the $25/day resort fee for access to pool.
After checking in, and swiping our credit card, the front desk person casually mentions "our pool is closed due to a recent renovation". Obviously we were disappointed, and couldn't believe they wouldn't tell us in advance, mention on their website, or in the booking email. They offered access to another (cheaper) hotel's pool.
A real disappointment for us, and a fairly deceptive practice. We considered just cancelling our reservation and going to Petite Hermitage, but they were booked. Eventually the front desk manager gave us free breakfast and a room upgrade, which was a nice gesture, but ultimately we wanted to have a few hours of sun and pool time, which we weren't able to have.
And, they had the audacity to still charge the resort fee! I insisted on having that removed when we checked out.
Minor grip: the room has motion-activated switches for the hallway light and bathroom light. This means reaching for your bedside table at 4am has the potential to turn on bright overhead lights.
I honestly didn't have any expectations for the Chamberlain as my friends were responsible for selecting our hotel in LA, but what a find! The hotel is excellently located in a safe and walk-able area. The rooms were large, clean, and quiet. Bathrooms had a nice big shower with good water pressure. Service was friendly and efficient. All-in-all a fantastic hotel.
