How to Get There
Over $150/night plus $26 per day for parking. I was expecting a lot more that I got at the Hyatt in Long Beach. Granted, the location was good, the rooms were fairly nice, but I was expecting perks and service and bending over backward to make my stay excellent, but the kind staff was just kind, nothing out of the ordinary. Certainly not worth almost $200/night after parking!
Hyatt place is good for the long Beach areas you are in a perfect setting to convention center and anywhere else you like to go
They upgraded the TV which is a nice surprise view is good but you'll still be looking at traffic along the harbor.
Booked a stay for a conference. Told two different things by two different people - one before booking and one after. My vote for the next conference will not be a Hyatt. Back to Marriott's for me.
Detail: The Price was crazy high - over $420/night. Mind you, our block rate was nearly half that. When booking, I told the Hyatt representative that I was not sure if I would stay 6 or 4 days. Was told to just book the whole week and cancel the days I don't need within 48 hours of stay. Alternatively, I would have made 2 reservations (one for 4 days and one for the 2 days I might cancel). I asked about this.
Called the VERY NEXT DAY to cancel the 2 days and representative assured me there was nothing anyone could do and that my rate would have to go up by $80 if I made any changes since rates have since gone up. She made it seem like everyone should know that rates jump around all the time. I guess she meant everyone except the Hyatt rep I had a long conversation with on this exact subject the day prior. I informed her that my vote for the next conference will not be a Hyatt. She assured me that no one else at Hyatt could help me.
We had a job to do Valentine's evening, so instead of driving home afterward we decided to overnight in Long Beach.
We were very pleased with the accommodations. The room was spacious, clean, and very, very quiet, except for the two times a neighboring room allowed their door to slam...twice.
I really liked the layout of the room in relation to the bathroom. There was a dividing wall that allowed one to use the bathroom during the night and not disturb the other person.
The gym was fantastic; the best gym I've used at a hotel. Lots of updated machines. Usually when I use a hotel gym it is small and hardly is there ever another person. This was good sized and there were a number of people.
We did not try the restaurant for breakfast as we wanted to go walking. The gal at the desk gave a couple of recommendations. We tried the Omelet Inn, within walking distance, and it was a good choice.
The people were cordial and polite, and made sure we had everything we needed.
The one thing that was a bit off - on the side table were two bottles of water. If you are elite you can take them for free, otherwise it is $4 each. Glad we brought our own water.
Room was comfy and fresh; lovely view. Check-in and check-out were painless (we were able to get an early check-in) and self-parking was convenient. Walking distance to all you need. We were attending an event at the Convention Center which was about thirty feet from door (hotel) to door (CC). Extra handy because it was rainy!
