How to Get There
I hadn't stayed here for a couple of years and the whole area is now completed with lots of stores and restaurants.
I got upgraded to a suite, with a nice bathroom.
It's a small cozy hotel, the breakfast is solid!!
Had a one night visit for business and felt very underwhelmed and unappreciated. I used points for this trip and I still cannot help but to think that point stays are unappreciated by hotels and treated differently than cash rooms. However point stays are your most loyal customers and I have to stay at quite a few Hyatt properties to get a point comp. At check in, I was not recognized for being a Explorist, but no big deal as pretty much everyone is. But when booking, I was only able to be assigned an ADA compliant room. I normally do not like ADA rooms due to the layout and weird bathroom accommodations and requested for a regular room, not even an upgrade which I am entitled to at Explorist but did not request as I get that hotels do not like upgrading and sometimes upgrades are now considered being close to an elevator or room with a "view" and not necessarily a suite.
I really feel gouged on this trip and the only saving grace was the room was on points. Parking is $35.00 per day, I got a red bull in the afternoon, $7.81 and a coors light in the evening $8.95. requested for a quiet room and was assigned a room on the second floor next to the street which I can hear everything on a Friday night and not to mention that there were two parties downstairs which added to the noise. I really felt disappointed in the welcome and treatment as a loyalty club member. The rooms were decent but the atmosphere was broken with the poor treatment and price gouging. I would never pay $266 for this room as this was the going rate.
Where do I start.....well.....after a long drive from San Francisco....arrived at the hotel at 7pm. I got a Park out the front...no sign of a valet......started to get my suitcase out of the trunk and my hand luggage....a young guy came out...."are you staying here?" DUH. He was not dressed in a hotel uniform,just a check shirt and jeans and sneakers...did not look like hotel staff. I said yes and started towards the door with a big suitcase..he never even held the door open...halfway thru the door he says....you can't park there....to which I replied.....I am leaving the luggage at the front desk then parking my vehicle in the car park. So......I get to check in....the front desk staff are casually dressed....maybe, it's casual Friday. The young man takes my Reservation copy,credit card and says...Oh, you have been upgraded. I get to the room ....it is the standard room I paid for. Thanks for the upgrade. BS.I could not get the AC to work so I turned it off and opened a window.I was here for a conference at the Convention centre.Next morning early, I go down for breakfast..very quiet.....The waitress,again, casually dressed...I sat down..took the menu.ordered the orang juice $10 coffee $5 and pancakes with fruit $18. I asked was the orange juice freshly squeezed ..she nodded.She walked 15 feet away to the fridge and took out a gallon jug which you can buy for $8.50 at Vons ....poured the juice and brought it to the table...coffee arrived...it was cold....pancakes arrived...lukewarm....I said the coffee was cold to which She replied.....Oh, the machine is broken.....not a good start to my day...but, I did not complain. Went to the conference, came back at 4 pm, hanging out for a swim.....went to the pool.....overcrowded. Went to the front desk...why is the pool so crowded...well. They sell Day tickets to the public....WHAT ? From a security point of view alone this is not good. Had a shower......went out for dinner...came back to have a drink at the bar.....no bar menu...Oh Dear. The overall
