How to Get There
I stayed at the Hotel Maya for a three day conference in early February. Everything from the entrance, to the room, the walking path and evening fires felt unique. I stayed in a King Room with an Ocean view and it delivered. There were nice touches such as a white noise machine and ear plugs.
The conference facilities were very nice, especially the outdoor reception areas. The staff at the restaurant were accommodating and attentive.
I went for the conference, but I would stay there again for sure.
Very nice stay. The hotel staff were very accommodating. The room had a beautiful view of downtown Long Beach across Queensway Bay and there was access to water sports and water taxis to travel to Alamitos Bay where there are many nice restaurants and things to do. Nice hote, good food and great service.
I am a Hilton Honors Diamond member, and I was really looking forward to staying at this hotel. However when I drove up and saw the property, I was a bit disappointed. It looks like the hotel was built in the 70s and has not really been through the needed renovations since that time. The hotel is broken up into various buildings on a large acreage. The property looks like it was falling apart a bit, especially the building where reception was, which was not very inviting. I didn't feel I was greeted with much warm or explanation about the property or various features. The rooms all open to the outside, so that is something to keep in mind especially when you're right on the water. I felt the elevator in my building was old and needed a cleaning and an update. There were sand bags on the floor outside my room and outside other rooms to and I didn't know if we were expecting a flood or what!? Once inside the room I was not impressed by the decor which was very minimalist in a rather large room which did not make it feel cozy or warm at all. It felt like they needed more furniture or to decrease the size of the room. I spilled something on the wood floor I went to get a Kleenex to wipe it up and as I wiped it up the kleenex turn black because the floor was so dirty. The remote had dust stuck to it like someone hit eaten something sticky and both that and the issue with the floor grossed me out. On a positive note, the balcony was very nice. I called the reception to ask them if there are any new or more comfortable rooms and she said they were all the same, they're all renovated seven years ago, and if I left I wouldn't get any money back. I thought that was a bit rude. I did decide to leave the property as did not feel comfortable there. When I turned in my key, they did not ask why I was leaving early, if there was anything they could do, etc. The staff I encountered seemed indifferent to my needs. I will not return here.
Close to Home and everything we needed for a recharge away from our everyday life. With beautiful rooms looking acrossed the harbor at the Long Beach Skyline, its truly romantic. Add sangria and some snacks for two.... Magic! We booked dinner at Fuego on property. Wonderful food and beverages with a friendly staff. Perfect!
Convenient and clean well worth the money ,beautiful settings, loved the outdoor firepits and couches, we sat and watch the ships, would def recommend , the restaurant was so good, but a bit on the spicy side...
