Overview

A chauteau-styled East Bay getaway with a serene spa, stately gardens and local favorite eateries

The Look

The charms of the East Bay are many: warm sunshine, world-class dining, wine country weekends. And while Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa offers easy access to all these, it takes its design inspiration from much farther east. The distinct mixture of French chateau architecture with an early American vibe recalls Washington’s Mount Vernon or other classic sprawling East Coast estates. Welcoming, but with elegance to spare, the evocation of country charm is carried through from the sweeping lobby to the Duck Club restaurant to the rooms themselves.

Bed & Bath

Rooms start at a spacious 450 square feet and sprawl up to 850 square foot suites. All have serene views of the gardens or rolling hills. Custom cherry armoires and writing desks feel stately. More modern amenities include HDTVs, free WiFi and music systems. Granite bathrooms have spa robes, makeup mirrors and Gilchrist and Soames bath products.

Beyond

There’s a heated pool, spa and sauna. Or you can fully bliss out at the spa, which offers treatments inspired by the hotel’s gardens. Dining is a highlight with haute California fare at the classic Duck Club restaurant and local-favorite The Bistro at the Park.

Classically beautiful hotel in every way. A perfect wedding site! Lovely, spacious guest rooms. Our party had several meals in the dining room and found the selections and good quite good. We will go back again.

The service and experience at this hotel makes it one of our favorite. It is obvious that Management has trained the staff to be very customer friendly. Such attention to detail! I highly recommend this hotel!

A nice gem

This place is always nice to stay and hard to leave. From check in and bell-hop to check out and valet everyone is extremely helpful and everything is very nice and clean. I have stayed a few times, and each gets better and better, just wish they had more locations to places we go.

A great hotel

We stayed at the Lafayette for 10 day and really enjoyed each day. Lovely large clean and well equipped rooms, great staff and excellent facilities. When we ate at the bistro the food was excellent. We will come again.

Incredibly difficult reservation staff

Terrible customer service in booking a reservation. We have stayed here several times over the last 25 years and like the ambience. But today when the website was down I called and spoke to Tiara to inquire about rate availability (btw the website does NOT display a AAA rate, which required me to call and find out they have one.).

Talking to Tiara was a repeated exercise in frustration. First she had the totally incorrect understanding of the cancellation policy for their cheapest rate, the 14 day rate...she said first that it could be cancelled without penalty until 48 hours before checkin, when in fact you have to cancel prior to 14 days before checkin if you are to avoid a cancellation fee. Then, I had to repeat the spelling of my name....of my address...of my email address...each several times. It was like talking to a wall, no ability to take in basic information and giving out dangerously incorrect information.

I only pray that when I arrive my room is as requested. And hopefully the rest of the hotel's offerings are what they used to be.
