How to Get There
The resort is lovely. We stayed in the water cottage and the view is wonderful. We can hear the waves crashing upon waking up. The room is cozy and clean. We enjoyed staying in the balcony. What we like the best is the service. We are deeply grateful for the service and hospitality of all the staff and crew of Lagen. We commend chef Carlos, Sanders (F&B manager), and Arnel who accompanied us to our private tour. They really made us feel special and happy despite the rainy weather. Hope to see them all again soon 🙂 Make sure to visit the islands for activity.
I celebrated my birthday here and it was such a beautiful experience. The service was so excellent and the staff was warm and welcoming. My favourite part was going scuba diving with the amazing divers Rowel and Bong. They made the experience so much fun because they were very friendly and they made us feel safe. It was truly an exemplar island getaway!
This was our honeymoon so we of course wanted a place that was going to special and boy did this place tick all the boxes. I cant actually describe in words how beautiful the place is, you just have to go! The back drop of huge limestone rocks behind the resort with the turquoise ocean.....its breathtaking.
Upon arrival we were welcomed with a great bit of music and some much needed drinks. We were then shown to our beautiful water cottage 110. I would highly recommend one of these. You will just spend so much time looking at the view, its insane. The water cottage was so clean and it had cable TV which we were pretty happy about because the Ryder Cup was on! There were no complaints about the room at all. One thing I will say is that Lagen Island is very environmentally friendly which we loved!
We never had a bad meal, either in the restaurant or at the pool bar. The happy hour was great fun, myself and new husband had way too many cocktails made by the incredibly friendly staff who we got to know really well.
There are so many activities you can do, or you can just chill out by the pool, take a paddle board out or kayak its up to you. Its so easy. There is also a great spa on site too. We went out on the boat most days, my husband is an avid diver and I tried it to. We saw some great marine life and not only that the views of the islands from the boat literally took our breath away. We took a private chartered boat out one day and kayaked into the small and big lagoon (highly recommend but going early in the morning round 6.30am to avoid crowds), we went to a stunning beach for lunch and went to snake island which is basically a long stretch of sand in the middle of the ocean that you can just sit on. Its like sitting in the most amazing bath! The water is so warm and you are literally surrounded by ocean!
Lastly a big mention is going to the fabulous staff. Great staff I think is what makes a holiday special for you and the staff at Lagen went all out. There was nothing they couldnt do for you and you were always met with a big smile. From the chef and F&B manager, to all the bar staff, waiters, waitresses and not forgetting our divemaster who was fantastic.
You would be silly not to go to this place. We have been to some fabulous places around the world but this has trumped everything. Thank you to everyone on Lagen Island for making our honeymoon so memorable.
We flew over from Manila for a weekend and stayed 2 nights at the Lagen Resort in
El Nido. From the beginning to the end of our stay we were spoiled by Jen and her team. In this sanctuary of calm and piece, the true luxury is not the facilities, but the warm and passionate staff attitude and the heavenly environment which give you the feeling of being in one of the top hotels in Asia. We got all this and want to mention especially the amazing private dinner in the lagoon. Thank you so much Jen! It was great. As well my sincere thanks to Paul Kerr for his amazing show around and lunch. True hospitality at its best. We come back soon!
My lady Frankie and I had a wonderful stay on Lagen Island from 9/2/18 - 9/5/18. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed it was a surreal and adventurous experience. We went during rainy season and we plan on returning for a much longer stay during dry season.
The staff were simply incredible! They were friendly, attentive and world class. We became friends with a few key people and look forward to keeping in touch with them.
Lagen Island is a nature preserve which is evident in the amount of wildlife present. A wide variety of birds can be spotted as well as several impressive monitor lizards.
We loved our scuba diving trip/island tour, kayaking around the island, snorkeling, the jungle hike and of course simply relaxing.
The food is top notch and we enjoyed many long hours tasting the large variety of buffet choices. Not only is their chef an incredible cook, but he's also a great musician and we were lucky to hear him play guitar and sing during dinner one evening.
If you're looking for an exotic and unique getaway, Lagen is for you. You will be traveling there by boat, so be prepared to get a little wet. It's an adventure after all and you will be happy to made the journey.
