How to Get There
Just be aware that this is a big property and is spread out, they shuttle quests around in golf buggies or hotel vans, which is fine but you are sometimes left waiting. Unless you are in a block close to the main building you just can't walk to the bar for a drink.
Our stay was nothing short of perfection. The Four Seasons has a firm understanding of white glove service and makes it a point to treat each guest as a VIP. From the welcome message and gift for my 6 year old daughter to the way the pool and summit grill staff interacted with her and our good friends we were visiting in the area we were impressed with every detail of our stay and smiles from the staff.
To the staff that looked after our room: HOME RUN--it was spotless and well looked after daily. The resort amenities are fabulous and the surroundings are peaceful.
I work in a role where I regularly deal with high level benefactors and c-suite directors. It was nice to receive the same white glove attention from the Four Seasons Aviara staff. It was hard to leave and we're already planning our return trip!!!
Not sure if it was an off weekend or the stars didn’t align for us, but we were quite underwhelmed by both the property and service.
The staff were all nice and pleasant, don’t get me wrong. But there were a lot of inconsistencies.
Of the 3 nights we stayed, we received 1 turn down service. Then the second day, our housekeeping came really late. On the third and day of check out they came early. Why they’d come early on the day check-out, I don’t know (in all places I’ve been, they don’t come knocking early the day you leave).
The pool service was a bit spotty. The server, while nice, kept coming back to verify the order (they weren’t writing the order down). Just not what you’d expect from Four Seasons.
The units are in need of upgrades. The carpets, sofas, and furniture are worn. I could look past these things if the service was stellar.
Pros: no parking fee, no resort fee. All rooms come with microwave (convenient for those with babies and small children). There’s fridges too of course. The Kids Club is good and my child enjoyed the Parents Night Out.
I’ve stayed at both the Omni La Costa and Sheraton Carlsbad. And I would stay in both those resorts before I’d come back to the Four Seasons Aviara. At the time of booking, obviously in hindsight, I should have booked at the Park Hyatt. Sounds more kid friendly and more true to a resort setting (with adults only and kids pools). We had dinner at Vivace and it was fabulous.
Funny, when I checked out, I wasn’t asked how my stay was. So here’s the feedback that I should have been asked at check out. For reference, we’ve stayed at FS Punta Mita, London, Jackson Hole, etc.
I stayed in the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara during a week when I need to deliver a training. The resort is located in a gorgeous place, the villas are spacious, well equipped and well attended. Everything during my stay was flawless, from the quick check-in, to the cleaning and check-out. Even a small issue of having the vanity mirror in the bathroom broken was promptly fixed.
I wish I could give this more than an excellent rating. We had a one bedroom deluxe and it was phenomenal. The room had 1336 square feet with is bigger than some places that I lived in. It was spacious, well thought out and luxurious. Everything was very nice from the marble, the huge bedroom and bathrooms to the balconies that overlooked a golf course that was behind the beautiful landscaping. The pool was huge with staff members doing what they could to make you comfortable.
The front desk staff checked you in, answered your questions and gave helpful advice from places to eat or fun things to do.
*I would like to give special credit to Kendra. Kendra made us feel like old friends. I called the week before arriving to ask questions which she answered and Kendra was also there when we checked in as well as we saw her many times during the week we were there. Kendra gave us good advice on things to do and places to eat as well as directions to local businesses. I cannot say enough good things about Kendra.
We will definetly be back in the future. We live near Phoenix and it is a worth while drive to stay here again.
