How to Get There
First, let me say that the personnel at this location are among the best I have ever accounted. I feel sorry for them because they are fighting an uphill battle after the recent "remodel" of the property.
Whoever was the designer of the room remodels should go back to school. First, they ask you to help the environment by hanging your towels up to help save water. One problem is there are no towel bars to do so. Second, the furniture is one step above IKEA and is very modernistic which makes it look cheap. Third, the L-shaped couch does not allow you to view the TV straight on because the TV is mounted to the wall facing the bed. You have to close the curtains, thus losing any view, in order to remove the glare on the screen. Fourth, there is no real "desk" and the "desk chair" is a welded wire chair with thin pad reminiscent of a patio chair. Fifth, the flooring would look really nice except that it's a vinyl sheet flooring with a wood look. And, whoever laid it did a terrible job because it's lifting from the floor creating an actual ripple in the floor in multiple places. We were told they went to vinyl because they are pet friendly and this was easier to clean. Well, it reminded us of one step above the old 1950s and 60s motor court inns. Sixth, there are multiple lights with multiple light switches that don't adequately light the room even when all are turned on. Seventh, the "restaurant" is actually a modified meeting room. Eighth, the food is not great. We had hamburgers the first night and discovered that a bad burger can be created. Ninth, the "couch" is four inch padded cushions set on a plywood frame and not at all comfortable. We are Elite Marriott members and I can truthfully say that the next time we will stay at the Hampton Inn up the road about 1/2 mile. Again, though, this review is in no way reflective of the personnel who were nothing but friendly and accommodating.
We were staying for a week as my husband was here on business. I was very disappointed to find out the pool was closed. Since I was here on vacation.. this really took away from my experience. Unfortunately, all the other options in the area were motels, so we stayed.
Pro’s nice lobby, two nights, they had complimentary wine and beer tastings. There is a happy hour every night.
As a titanium member, breakfast was included, but was housed in the windowless basement, as they are renovating. I opted for Starbucks several days which was conveniently located in the lobby. The hotel is nicely located with a brewery across the street and a movie theater next door. Grocery stores and fast food was within walking distance.
Had no issue with obtaining an Uber for transportation.
Cons- understaffed breakfast, every day had to ask the wait staff to clean a table, no butter, no cream, no offers for water or to refill coffee. The staff was pleasant but they needed some help! It will be better once the pool opens!
This was my second stay @ this property. I stayed here last fall.Check in was smooth and the folks working the front counter were helpful. My room was clean and quiet. The bed was comfortable. The servers working in the property restaurant were attentive and friendly.
I used their gym several times during my stay. All of the machines I used, worked fine.
I would definitely stay at this property if business required me to be in the area.
I have stayed at this Marriott multiple times while working, but have not been there for the last few years since retirement. I am at the top level of Marriott membership status and I appreciate that I was upgraded to a suite for my wife and I a couple of weeks ago while there for pleasure. The staff is wonderful but the rooms are strange. Very poor quality linoleum flooring which is buckled. ( My son and his wife were in a different room and said that is was the same there). There are glass barn doors on the bathroom entries that allow light in to the bedroom. The toilet does not have a door. The rooms were very spartan and I guess this was someone's attempt at minimalism, but it just did not work. The beds were very comfortable, but this just did not feel like any Marriott that I have stayed at in the last 30 plus years. There also seems to be some kind of program that discounts the drinks in the bar for the locals. Both nights there was a pretty rough looking group that were making some guests, including us, somewhat uncomfortable.
Great hotel ! Chris Merz is an exceptional employee. He shows all the courtesy and quick action that is expected of a high value hotel such as the Marriott Corpation. Thank you for having such a great person as a part of your team.
