This sprawling property is designed so you never have to leave. Kids can feed ducks near the lagoon, have noodle races, splash contests, and water volleyball games in the pool, or play croquet, basketball, badminton or golf. Adults have two golf courses to choose from; pools, whirlpools, lighted tennis courts and a Westin Workout gym with massages in the spa to unwind after; plus there are guided horseback tours into the desert. In between, guests refuel at one of the restaurants, from Italian Pinzimini to the poolside Las Brisas Café.
In the Area
Technically, Palm Springs is a desert. But it’s lush with activities. There’s bike riding, horseback riding, and desert treks. Within ten miles of the resort, guests will find four museums (including the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert and the Palm Springs Air Museum), along with Knotts Berry Farm, and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Adult travellers might prefer to check out the Moorten Botanical Gardens, or Agua Caliente Casino. And then there’s the El Paseo Shopping District, because everyone prefers a shopping mecca to a shopping desert.
How to Get There
Came here for my son’s junior golf tournament. We got back to the hotel little earlier than the service time. Mila was very helpful. She asked us what kind of services we need. Got the room cleaned quickly and rotated the fresh towels while we unpacked. Definitely will come back again..
Started out nicely with great customer service upon check in. However, that was short lived once we got to our villa (3204). Got unpacked and dressed for the pool only to find out our refrigerator was not working. Called the front desk where we were told that sometimes it took 45 minutes to 1 hour for the refrigerators to get cold and for the ice to drop. So off to the pool we went.
Wanted to order some drinks pool side, but that was not to happen either. We could not get any of the three servers attention. Eventually we chased the male server down only to learn that is was 5:55pm and they were closing for the day. REALLY!?!?
During this time my husband went back to the villa to check to see if it had gotten cold and if the ice had dropped only to find out that in fact, it was not cold, and there was no ice. He called down again and they finally sent a tech out around 6:00pm to replace the ice-maker and reset the refrigerator. We were told again that it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour for it to get cold and make ice. Checked it at 7:30PM (1 hour later) no ice, ice-cream was melting, and our food was warm, checked it at 8:30pm (2 hours later) no ice, the ice-cream was melted, and we were becoming extremely worried about spoiling food.
Called back down around 9:05pm and were told that someone would call us back in 20 minutes. 30 minutes passed and still no call. Called back down and someone finally showed up around 9:45pm to fix it. After him trying to reset it again, and his trying to repeatedly defend the fact that their refrigerators run in the low 40s (everything was 51 – 59 degrees) and our not being OK with any of this, he said he needed to check with the front desk manager to see what to do next.
Front desk manager called us around 10:00pm - 10:15pm and after our stating that we had lost food and our not wanting to move rooms as we picked this room for the closeness to the pool and most importantly we were unpacked and settled in, she said she would have him bring us a new refrigerator. Completely wasted 1st day and half our 2nd as we had to run back to the store…unsatisfactory!!
What bothered us most is that the front desk manager, who was very aware of our experience and the fact we had to throw away food did not seem to care. No call to check on things but the concierges and spa called numerous times to get us to spend money?!?! Even worse is that my husband explained to the concierges how unhappy he was and still no call. Does anyone there care!?!?
The resort was absolutely beautiful inside the villa and out. The pool was huge and they had a great water slide. The villas were huge and clean. Housekeeping was excellent and would bring you any supplies you needed upon request. My only complaint was our building had no elevator and we had to carry our heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. We also had a hard time finding a available parking space each and every time we left & returned to the resort. Other than that, our stay was great.
Pros: loved the villa. Very spacious, very nice kitchenette and space for my husband and I to sprawl for the 5 days/4 nights we were there. Lovely property, nicely cared for, grills in green spaces for anyone to use. Small pool for a quieter pool experience, larger pool for a more lively one. Fitness center was small, but had nice equipment.
Cons: A lot of miscommunications with staff. Read on for details if interested... I had spoken at length with the concierge prior to our trip about where we'd like to stay on the property. Apparently those arrangements did not make it into their reservation system. We asked for an adjustment to what we were expecting (2nd floor, golf course side, building 32), the front desk woman did some finagling with her manager to rework it and said she could put us in a similar room in building 31, but it wasn't cleaned yet, so to relax by the pool and they'd call us. Once they did, they gave us a key to yet another building (44). I gave up saying anything, went to the room and was disappointed to find it on the 1st floor (but facing the golf course). Not a huge deal, but the noisy folks above us did make for some sleepless moments...
There was also the spa appointment I made for 11:00 am the day before we left, and they called at 10:00 and asked where we were... I indicated the appointment was planned for 11:00. They did apologize for the mix-up and offered an upgraded couples massage for 9:00 the next morning. It was nice of them to try to fix it, but we were leaving town that day and couldn't do it. I was very disappointed to miss out on the massage!
There were several other small missteps (calling for a golf cart ride twice that never showed up, a concierge that was less than helpful etc), and honestly each of these things in isolation would NOT bother me! But when I put it all together, I was very disappointed.
My family and I stayed here for the first time this weekend. We stayed in a one bedroom premier villa which was well appointed with everything that we needed. Our villa had a large balcony over looking the lagoon which was relaxing. The property also has a hotel which is nice because you are able to use all of the amenities at both resorts. There are several pools and hot tubs on the property as well as decent food places. The staff were all very nice and accommodating which was nice. I will definitely visit here again!
