How to Get There
The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage is a gorgeous hotel embedded in a cliff overhang in this gorgeous section of Palm Springs. Ritz Carlton does its very best to create a peaceful and hospitable experience for guests. One goes here to relax, spend time with your children, take in a spa treatment, enjoy the peaceful setting with family and friends. We stayed for two nights during the off-peak season which offered a considerable discount on our room. We celebrated my daughter's 14th birthday and the hotel was gracious in sending her a card with a lovely cupcake. This is a family friendly and relaxing setting. We did have dinner and lunch by the pool at the hotel and loved it.
Me and my boyfriend decided to take a day vacation the 3rd to the 4th of July just to get out of los angeles. I had heard about this hotel because our CEO gave the executives 2 night stays as a Christmas present last year. And Ive wanted to try it since. The grounds are gorgeous. as soon as you drive up you are greeted by the friendly valet as they guide you into the lobby to checkin. The checkin process was smooth and they actually had a room available at 10a so we were able to get in the room early. We figured the bags would follow us up shortly. but after about 40 minutes, we called down to see if they were coming any time soon. I would have taken them myself if i knew it was going to take that long. I wanted to change into more comfortable clothes and get to the pool. Then my boyfriend had brought some champagne and at the time we couldnt find the ice bucket. so we called down to ask for one. But we ended up leaving figuring they would see the champagne and just stick it in the ice. which they did.
Then we go to the adult pool and we were greeted and shown some chairs together. they offered us water and we said that would be great. about 20 minutes later, no water so we go up to get some ourselves. They apologized for the oversight and then we also ordered some mojitos. Again....those drinks took a while so i go over to ask them. They said they were sorry but mixed drinks have to be made at the regular pool and brought over to the adult pool. and i asked what can they make at this adult pool bar...wine and beer only was the answer. which is fine. but it is a little misleading that they have tons of liquor bottles in the bar but that they dont actually have a full bar at the adult pool. Which is a little strange in the first place.
Had a fantastic experience at the spa. really was amazing. the staff, the services, the cleanliness of the spa. it was beautiful.
The next morning we went to breakfast and we sat outside on the veranda overlooking the main pool. we decided to do the breakfast buffet so we ordered our coffee from our server and then she said we were welcome to check out the buffet. As we are ordering our omelets she comes by and apologizes profusely but the hostess has sat someone else at our table. So they moved us a few tables over. Which is fine, mistakes happen. I would have been more upset if there wasnt a table close by on the veranda to switch to.
We decided to stay by the big pool that day because the adult pool had a waitlist for chairs. Again service was very slow. admittedly, it was packed with families and others enjoying their vacation but they should be staffed appropriately. Specifically the bar. i think there were 2 bartenders handling the whole family pool. My boyfriend is in the highend service industry in beverly hills and i work part time in the service industry and part time in Entertainment. So these are small things we notice.
Overall it was a beautiful stay and everyone we came in contact with was lovely and friendly. However, these hiccups i am not accustomed to having while staying at a Ritz Carlton. the Ritz Carlton i consider a cut above and these holdups in service were disappointing.
My husband and I are frequent visitors and love coming here to relax. This trip we brought our teenage daughter and they kindly upgraded us to a one bedroom suite rather the regular room with 2 queen beds. The room was beautiful. The only negative was the pull out sofa which was the only sleeping option for our daughter. It was horribly uncomfortable. The mattress was so thin you could feel the bars underneath. We were also disappointed by the made up bed. Housekeeping simply pulled it out and put sheets on it with two flat pillows. It was worse than staying at my Aunt Millie’s! RC can do much better with the linens. A feather bed and duvet would have been a nice touch.
Other than the bed everything was excellent. Although, I doubt we could convince our daughter to stay in a room with a pull out sofa again!
From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, the service was impeccable. Ricky at reception was very gracious and helpful. We were upgraded to Room overlooking the adult pool and valley along with complimentary champagne. The bathroom was wonderful with large walk-in shower and beautiful tub, Single sink only. Comfortable King size bed, black out curtains, fridge and Nespresso machine.
Everyone we came in contact with was friendly and cheerful, always eager to help. We spent majority of our time at the adult pool, with comfortable lounge chairs and large umbrellas. Poolside drinks and food were delicious. I also enjoyed the yoga class in the fitness center.
I highly recommend this hotel for an adult getaway. With a name like Ritz Carlton, we come to expect first class service and they certainly deliver.
I wanted to write this review before I left the property. My husband, sister and I had the most amazing experience here. We did not know what to expect given we had gotten our rooms through Priceline. The photos were nice but one never knows. On a scale of 1-5, this property is a 10. The customer service was off the chart. Everyone made us feel like royalty and the most important thing of the moment. Cyrus and Chevelle our pool side servers were just wonderful. If I did not know better, I would think they did telepathy as our needs were addressed before we asked for anything. But two things really stood out. My sister and I met this very kind lady this morning who asked us if we needed anything. We said we would love hot coffee. She said she would see what she could do. A few minutes later she came back with a full carafe and tea cookies. That lady was the general manager Kelly. Imagined that-the general manager waiting on us. Not only did she do that, but she had one of her people go off the property to get me a missing part for my laptop from Staples.
The property is even nicer that the pictures show. I have had shoulder issues sleeping but not here. The pillow are fluffy, the towels thick and soft and I loved the tv in the bathrooms.
A big thank you to Kelly and the entire staff. I hope Mariott reads this and reaches out to me so my husband and I can tell them personally. You are the poster child for all that is right in your industry.
