Overview

Mid-century architectural icon reborn as one of Palm Springs’ poshest sleeps with a firepit, spa and a star-chef restaurant

The Lowdown

In increasingly hip South Palm Springs, L’Horizon occupies a 1952 William F. Cody–designed 1952 building that was once a playground for golden era Hollywood elite (Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and several Presidents all stayed) and remains one of the finest intact examples of mid-century modern architecture in Palm Springs. Owner and designer Steve Hermann is behind the multi-million dollar renovation, which honors the details and decor of the original hotel, while updating it for an upscale crowd with a mix of bespoke and upscale vintage furniture. The 25 bungalows are dotted across the three-acre grounds, all with private patios, Frette linens, Dean and Deluca goodies in the minibar and marble baths stocked with posh Le Labo toiletries. The restaurant, too, sets a new standard in Palm Springs, with Michelin-star chef, and El Bulli alum, Giacomo Pettinari in the kitchen and a menu of creative southern European and Californian classics. Ingredients come largely from farms within a 150-mile radius, while the wine list features mostly West Coast wineries. For sybarites, there’s a serene spa, pool and bar, plus a range of fitness activities, including loaner bikes, yoga classes and guided hikes.

In the Area

On the main drag in the up-and-coming hipster neighborhood of South Palm Springs, L’Horizon is walking distance to the city’s fave café, Koffi, the upscale Mr. Lyons steakhouse and the supper club scene at the Purple Room. Too warm by the pool? It’s usually about 30 degrees cooler atop of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, where hiking (or snowshoeing!) trails beckon. Other outdoor adventures await at Joshua Tree National Park or, closer-in, at Tahquitz Canyon and Indian Canyons. Shoppers, check out design and resort-wear shops on North Palm Canyon Drive in downtown and uptown Palm Springs, a couple miles away.

Beautiful Adults Only Hotel
Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel is really quiet and relaxing. You should stay here if you want to get away from it all. I love that you never have to fight to find a seat at the pool or bar. There were bunnies and road runners on the property, too. Overall, I would definitely return, especially to escape the madness of daily life. One more thing: it's only a few minutes from downtown Palm Springs, if you want to go into town for shopping or dinner.

Beautiful Property

Beautifully designed rooms and facilities. Perfect place to relax by the pool with cocktails for the day. Some room for improvement with service but overall a lovely hotel for anyone wanting the quintessential Palm Springs luxury resort vacation.

L’Horizon is the place to relax

I loved this place. I came with my adult kids and we had so much fun. Relaxing at the pool, eating, having a drink poolside is a wonderful dream vacation and L’Horizon makes it a reality. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfy with a feather mattress. The linens are sparkling white. Trust me on this, book a room you will love it.

Exceptional

Beautiful grounds, excellent service in every area of hotel from valet, front desk, bar, housekeeping, etc. Pool and hot tub are open 24 hours and the area is just incredible. One word defines this place and is EXCEPTIONAL.

Beautiful but Awful
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This hotel is gorgeous but there seems to be zero management. The pool had so much single-use plastic cups all over the place that were left there for hours. The pool beds were never cleaned up so we couldn't tell if there was an empty spot and of course there was no staff to be found to help us figure this out. The food and drinks took about 25-45 minutes for each order. The room was not clean at all and we just had such a difficult time accepting that the prices were so high and the service was so bad.
