Horrible Service

So, I really do love the grounds. It is beautiful and well maintained. Even though it was nuclear hot when we went it was still worth being outside.

The restaurant onsite was terrific.

What really soured our experience was the front staff, particularly the front receptionist Paul. He was very rude to my wife upon check in for no reason at all.

Later on I called for a wake up call and he sounded very annoyed and was very unhelpful.

If you want to charge premium prices you need to have the staffing to back it up. I don't expect things to be perfect, but I also don't expect people to be rude and unhelpful either.

Hidden gem in La Quinta!

My husband and I went out to La Quinta to visit a friend and needed a place to stay. The Chateau at Lake La Quinta was offering a fabulous summer rate of $89/night so we grabbed it. What a lovely place - right off the bat we were welcomed with a glass of champagne (as was our friend who came along to see your room). The room (a deluxe king) had a wonderful view of the lake and a nice balcony which we briefly checked out (it was well over 100 degrees so we didn't linger). The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was great (especially the walk-in shower). The bar downstairs looked quite nice but we didn't get a chance to test it out as it was closed when we got back in the evening - we mentioned this at the front desk and they offered us free glasses of champagne! Wifi was solid. All in all, we felt like we got the deal of the century and would happily return.

Much below expectation

Good: close to restaurants & upgraded bathroom and shower
Bad: shocking and unexpected $75 resort fee - their only pool non operational at night due to lack of electric power
Ugly: very old looking room, wore down carpet, dirty windows and dirty fireplace
