Posh casino resort with world class gaming and dining, plus a glass-domed rooftop overlooking the harbor

The Lowdown

With its creamy white exterior and unique glass-domed rooftop, the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino is one of Queensland’s most iconic hotels. Benefitting from a super-central location in downtown Cairns, with sweeping views of the ocean and marina, this five-star resort offers world class gaming, dining and lodging. The 128 guestrooms and suites are decorated in honey and chocolate tones, with private balconies and floor-to-ceiling views of the city, the pool or the serene Trinity Inlet. Try your luck at the blackjack table or at one of the 500 electronic gaming stations, then refuel at one of three restaurants. Tamarind, a wood-paneled dining room with plantation-style shutters, serves award-winning Asian fusion fare. After dinner check out the three bars on offer. There are live bands at Vertigo Bar, movie screenings at Casino Sports Arena and late night guest DJs at Velvet Underground, the resort’s own nightclub. Don’t leave without visiting the Cairns Wildlife Dome on the roof: Turtles, pythons and crocodiles are all on display at this spectacular all-weather exhibit.

In the Area

Cairn’s greatest draw is without a doubt the Great Barrier Reef. Some of the world’s best diving sites are here, of course, but for non-divers, glass-bottomed boats or semi-submarines also let you visit the dazzling marine life. Adventure sports are popular too: skydiving, bungee jumping and whitewater rafting, to name but a few. For a more tranquil experience, head north to Daintree Rainforest, the oldest surviving rain forest in the world. Arrange a daytime or nocturnal nature tour for a chance to see the flora and fauna up close.

Absolutely superb hotel. Started with a fantastic welcome and check in. Booked a junior suite and was allocated room 315. A very large room with a massive balcony. The outdoor furniture could be a bit better for the scale of the balcony but overall the room was excellent. Welcome bottle of wine arrived courtesy of the manager - maybe due to Accor status, but a nice touch. Pool area is very nice and the sun lounges vey comfortable, even though the pool is on the small side. Facilities and amenities all top notch. No complaints and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Fabulous stay and excellent food

We stayed for five nights at the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino and enjoyed everything about this hotel from the comfortable, spacious and very clean room, to the exceptional service of the staff who go beyond and the outstanding food at Tamarind Restaurant. The location is great and easily accessible to the centre of Cairns, the esplanade and Marina for trips out to the reef. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a great escape to Cairns!

A nice surprise....I travel too much, too many hotels. This was a welcome relief. Assistant Manager was extremely helpful. Room was roomy, very clean, well appointed for business and finally AC that didn’t annoy me.
Tamarind restaurant staff were outstanding food good but not exceptional. Duck curry way too much sugar. The hotel was so relaxing I wanted to stay another night but home called! Ps join Accor it pays you back in spades.....Nicolas

Great service, great location

We can't speak highly enough of the helpful, friendly staff and the outstanding service during our recent 3 day stay. From the concierge to the reception staff and housekeeping staff, we received first rate service. The room itself was spacious, modern and perfectly suited to a longer stay (lounge chair, desk etc.) The location is also fantastic - walking distance to the reef terminal (for day trips to the islands), restaurants and the esplanade. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit beautiful Cairns
