With its creamy white exterior and unique glass-domed rooftop, the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino is one of Queensland’s most iconic hotels. Benefitting from a super-central location in downtown Cairns, with sweeping views of the ocean and marina, this five-star resort offers world class gaming, dining and lodging. The 128 guestrooms and suites are decorated in honey and chocolate tones, with private balconies and floor-to-ceiling views of the city, the pool or the serene Trinity Inlet. Try your luck at the blackjack table or at one of the 500 electronic gaming stations, then refuel at one of three restaurants. Tamarind, a wood-paneled dining room with plantation-style shutters, serves award-winning Asian fusion fare. After dinner check out the three bars on offer. There are live bands at Vertigo Bar, movie screenings at Casino Sports Arena and late night guest DJs at Velvet Underground, the resort’s own nightclub. Don’t leave without visiting the Cairns Wildlife Dome on the roof: Turtles, pythons and crocodiles are all on display at this spectacular all-weather exhibit.
In the Area
Cairn’s greatest draw is without a doubt the Great Barrier Reef. Some of the world’s best diving sites are here, of course, but for non-divers, glass-bottomed boats or semi-submarines also let you visit the dazzling marine life. Adventure sports are popular too: skydiving, bungee jumping and whitewater rafting, to name but a few. For a more tranquil experience, head north to Daintree Rainforest, the oldest surviving rain forest in the world. Arrange a daytime or nocturnal nature tour for a chance to see the flora and fauna up close.
How to Get There
From the moment we stepped into this beautiful calm serene hotel was an overall feeling of peace. Checking in we were greeted by such friendly helpful and attentive staff. Our room was an oasis, beautifully appointed with a lovely terrace. Even though it was a casino attached hotel unless you walked through the hotel into the casino it was quiet and peaceful smelled so fresh all the time. The pool was on the same floor as our room so we just walked across the hallway where the pool was there waiting to be used with the beautiful birds flying above. The hotel was quite central to the Broadway where there are a variety of restaurants. Further along there is a promenade and lido and further shops and restaurants. The hotel also houses a small cafe which offer a great breakfast or there is a large restaurant but we found it was quite cold to eat in. The staff are so very helpful friendly and courteous nothing was too much trouble. A really lovely hotel to stay.
Enjoyed the environment in this complex. Room is above average with harbour view option. Highly recommended the tamarind restaurant for fine dinning. Loved the small casino environment as it not getting too crowded. The location itself was great, close to major supermarkets, public transport just 5 mins walk from the wharf where the boats leaves to the Great Barrier Reef.
No complaints, check in efficient. Lovely room with small balcony. Bed fantastic, bathroom luxurious. Only complaint to make during our stay was how cold the aircon in the public areas was. At one point despite it raining, my wife popped outside to warm up.
Breakfast in restaurant was very nice, wasn't impressed with meal in casino, but it wasn't expensive
My hubby and I stayed here for 3 nights in a Junior King Suite. Firstly I must say all the staff that we encountered over our 4 day visit were very friendly and professional. Our room was an excellent choice (room 412) it was a corner room over looking Trinity Inlet, it was also on the same floor as the pool (& gym) which made for easy access. It had a gorgeous spa bath for two overlooking the inlet (however we did not get a chance to use it). We were given a complimentary bottle of champagne to help celebrate my birthday along with a card offering wishes too, which was a lovely personal touch. We paid for early check in and late check out, which based on our flights times was well worth the extra $$. We also had breakfast included at The Tamarind Restaurant which was delicious. The pool was not very refreshing however considering Cairns was in the middle of a heat wave during our visit, there is not much the hotel can do to help this. We did have a problem with our air conditioner not being very cool, we rang reception and they had a maintenance man in our room within 5 minutes. He did adjust the settings and explained that it was a water cooling type system and would therefore not respond as quickly to a reduction. Although the room did cool down a little (ie to 23 degrees celcius) we did find that (for us personally) we would have liked it a bit cooler. Thanks Pullman Reef Hotel Casino we will definitely be back, hopefully next winter :)
I live in cairns but my mum got 3 nights accommodation from casino award.
It was a big room, big and comfy bed.
So peaceful place. No noise at all.
I highly recommended this hotel. Great location, easy to access to casino.
