In the Area
Featuring such Canadian specialties as Vancouver Island black cod and Canadian wild arctic caribou chops, the award-winning Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler Village is a local favorite. And be sure to take a swig from the restaurant’s 20,000-bottle wine cellar, as well. If you really want to utilize your gourmet in-suite kitchen, check into the Whistler Cooking School. Classes are run both day and evening, for beginners and experts alike. The guest chefs are stars in their own right. When it’s time to party, the Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub is both a go-to for locals and visitors alike for a lively night out, be it for a pint or a pie — steak and Guinness pie, that is. Dancing afterward? Everybody ends up at Buffalo Bills, where top DJs spin late into the night.
How to Get There
Nestled in the middle of the Village and gondolas to both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains just steps from the doors. We arrived early to hit the slops straight away and were stunned that the room was ready to enter at 8:30am. There were always staff around and were friendly and willing. The rooms would soon require updating, while cleanliness could be improved as the bedroom had berry smoothie down the wall and something smudged on another wall. We had a one bedroom suite which is spacious, warm and cozy.
I would advise against using the ski storage rooms as our gear was somehow in another locker the next morning. They started to promptly organise a complimentary hire at the lobby Salomon store, but then our gear was found thankfully! So they were genuine about letting us get on the field, however a strange and rushed explanation about maybe I accessed the adjacent locker even though the pin number only applies to your locker (I tried other lockers to make sure).
The hotel has mountain charm, with a great outdoor pool/spas and oddly layed-out gym. There is a pub on the ground level with mountain views which provided room service too. All in all, great location just needs operations tightened and a little modernising.
We stayed at this hotel every year for our annual ski trip. Unbeatable location and 1 bedroom suite are spacious for the 3 of us. We also love the day spa that can arrange in room RMT massage. However be caution about valet parking. We valet parked for 4 nights and noticed our new rim was severely scratched. Pan pacific outsource to advance parking and the procedure is to file an incident report. Guest experience manager from pan pacific Marcela Bucuresti was helpful on helping on the report but it is a lot of paper work and debate with valet parking staff which take away from our experience. The case is still unsettle and I hope Pan pacific will own up to this issue. After all, we trusted our car to the hotel and not to their outsourced company. Advice - self park or/and check your car before you leave the hotel.
Book Early......Suggest higher floor if not taking the mountain view. You are situated in the village, so expect some outside noise if you like the window open in the bedroom at night. Nice to park your vehicle and walk the village.
We stayed at the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside from November 9-12, 2018 over the Remembrance Day long weekend here in Canada. We wanted a romantic long-weekend getaway that didn’t require a lengthy drive yet would provide us with that get-away feeling.
The hotel is located steps from the Gondolas for both Whistler and Blackcomb. The Valley Trails are a 2 minute walk and Whistler Olympic Plaza is 7 minutes away. The hotel offers studio rooms and suites. Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub is on site and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as lively nightly entertainment.
We booked an upper-floor studio suite, which featured a kitchen, separate living and dining areas, a fireplace and a Queen-sized murphy bed. There was a great view from our window across to the mountain!
Pros & Cons
• GREAT LOCATION. We loved the location of this hotel. It couldn’t get any better to be within walking distance of everything Whistler has to offer. It would be the perfect location for ski season, as it’s literally steps from the Gondolas.
• DUBH LINN GATE PUB: breakfast here was excellent. We loved the Traditional Fry Up, complete with black pudding and I thought the Harvest Hash was very tasty.
• Easy to access underground PARKING, an extra $28/day.
• NEEDS AN UPGRADE: the interiors look a bit dated and there were some visible signs of wear and tear in the public areas and rooms. The hotel is showing its age.
• POOR MATTRESS: our studio suite Murphy bed had an extremely uncomfortable mattress, possibly the worst we’ve ever experienced in a hotel – uneven, lumpy and hard. After the first night hotel staff placed a board under the mattress for us, and it was more even thereafter, but twice as hard. After the second night, we were moved to a 1-bed suite, where the mattress was great.
• HOT TUBS CLOSED: both hot tubs were closed for re-tiling during our visit. Although we were invited to use the facilities at the nearby Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre, we would have appreciated advance notice of this closure.
Get to the Dubh Linn Gate pub early in the evenings if you want a seat. There was wonderful celtic music on offer and a buzzy atmosphere.
Phone the hotel in advance to ensure all facilities will be available for your stay.
If something isn’t to your satisfaction, politely let the front desk staff know. They were very willing to help us with our mattress problem, and we really appreciated it!
This hotel has it all. It is welcoming, the staff are always ready to assist and your stay will be enjoyable. We routinely stay here in the one or two bedroom suites, depending on if our kids are with us or not. There is ample space to move around and everyone has their own area. We generally do not use the kitchen, but it is well appointed and stocked with everything you need. We do use the coffee machine and the Starbucks coffee provided is excellent.
The beds and bedding are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and well appointed. There is a beautiful roof top pool which over looks the mountain and runs. You have an amazing vantage point here and are close to the lifts for skiing. The eucalyptus steam room is heaven and smells fantastic.
If you every need anything or have forgotten anything, just call Service One. They always have a solution or the forgotten item. They even have robes for the little ones and runners if you need.
Thank you for always providing a consistent, home-like environment. It reminds me not to bother looking at other hotels, only to be disappointed and to come back here.
