Great service from Matthew in bar

Sheraton is a great hotel in Rio. The staff especially Matthew really made my visit comfortable. He is an excellent representative of the Rio Sheraton. This is the 2nd visit in the last 3 weeks and I will continue to come here for my business and pleasure trips.

Amazing location with a private beach

The hotel is located 1km from Leblon and has it own private beach. The swiming pool is large and vey nice with an unique view. There are several restaurants with good ffood, from relax to fine dinning. If you have kids, the hotel has a great kids club.

amazing place and service

What a delightful place to stay here. I requested a room with a view and I got more then I would expect. Great compounds with a lot to do here. Pools, tenniscourts, bars and restaurants. The food can be a little better for my taste. The things I ordered were containing a little too much fat for my taste. But all the other things are topnotch here.

A grate location with a fair service and high prices, but poor installations with a lot of uncleanliness!

When we got there there our first thought was "what ana amazing hotel". A great building with amazing pool, restaurants and facilities. Unfortunately as soon as we entered our room our first disappointment was the bathroom which was not cleaned well and the toilet had traces of the previous guests. Honestly we didn't make of this a big deal because my wife and I didn't want to jeopardize the maids job.

After that our stay besides the sort of rude "camouflaged" attitude that the concierge had
the service was fairly good and our experience was really good at the hotel. Again, the hotel has amazing facilites and we where over all very happy with it.

The biggest problem really happened the last day while packing and getting ready our luggage. Unfortunately a coach roach came out of the closet attached to my wife's shoes and she became crazy!

Obviously she was right! how was it possible that a 5 star hotel was not able to fumigate but above all keep the rooms clean.

At check out we complaint in a very nice manner and their response was that they would be taking care and quarantine the room as soon as we leave. Also they offered a $30 USD discount. Honestly I was expecting a more substantial discount, but I didn't say anything about it because I would rather share my experience than stay quiet about this issue.

I know and understand this kind of situations can happened but I also expect a hotel and a brand of SPG to be more careful with hotel guests and their traveling experience.

I return to this hotel often & like it!

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times and I really do appreciate the style, comfort & beachfront location. This hotel is further removed from all of the hustle & bustle & loud activity of Leblon Beach, which is very nearby & within close walking distance, as is also Ipanema Beach. This Sheraton has a resort feel, because that’s exactly what it is & the property is quite large & beautifully landscaped, with many delicious dining options available on the property. I think the clientele here might be a little more refined because they’re not a bunch of party animals dragging sand & coolers back into the building. Uber rides from this hotel to any of the famous attractions, including the beaches, are within a 5 To 10 USD price range. Five of us inquired with the Sheraton concierge here as to transportation to the Christ statue & the concierge offered us transportation for 86 reales (23 USD). I got onto my Uber app & the price was 16 reales (4.50 USD). What a difference!!! But, we needed to take 2 cars since we were so many people.... Still, for 2 Uber’s the price was only 32 reales (8.50 USD), as opposed to 23 USD, which is what the Sheraton concierge offered us. Unfortunately, judging from my experience, I would not recommend using the concierge at this lovely Sheraton Hotel because someone is clearly making a huge commission & you’re unnecessarily paying it! Some hotel’s concierge are there to help hotel guests, but some are there to make an unfair profit off of the guest. So, beware! I like to be independent anyway & use my Uber app everywhere I go & not depend on local taxis anymore, who prey upon vulnerable visitors like we used to be. The Uber drivers are always so very polite & they know exactly where they’re going every time! By the way, I don’t work for Uber. Everyone knows that nothing is perfect & I’m always happy to return to this Sheraton Grand hotel in Rio & I’m very grateful that the company I work for places me here while I’m in town to do a job. I’ve never vacationed in Rio. However, I’d like to stay at this hotel, if I did. The pool area is excellent & you get a nice big towel to use. There are just a few steps leading down to the beach from the pool area, if you like the more natural approach to sunbathing & the Sheraton hotel provides lounge chairs on the beach. There’s also tennis courts. The rooms are very comfortable & I appreciate the comfy bedding. I usually get a high floor & the rooms have small glass terraces, which allow no obstruction of the view... and the views from this hotel are spectacular! Even if you don’t have a poolside view, the vistas looking in the other direction are equally stunning & satisfying! I like to have an electrical USB port near my nightstand & this hotel does not provide this feature. There is a USB port in the wall completely on the other side of the room, away from the bed. So, I had to use my extension cord that I always keep in my bag, for when I travel. The cord trailed all the way across the room, from one wall to the other side of my room, where the bed was located. An extension cord is unsightly & one could easily trip over it, if not careful. But sometimes an extension cord is necessary when, in this day & age, a hotel doesn’t provide the client a simple nightstand lamp at our beds, which has a USB port adapter installed within the lamp. These lamps are very popular & available, & they provide a nice convenience to most guests. Another thing to mention is the ATM money machine at the lobby area of the Sheraton. I’ll show you a picture of it, in hopes that you’ll avoid this particular ATM, because it charges you a high bank rate. There’s a solution.... there are 2 other ATM’s just behind a service door, located near the same area of the ATM that you don’t want to use. These 2 ATM’s are located in a hallway that looks like it could be for staff only. But, there’s always guests using them & a Sheraton hotel staff member gladly showed me these 2 ATM’s & said that guests are welcome to use them. It’s a much better rate & worth the search & a few extra steps. Plus it’s safe, meaning that no one has installed a reader into these ATM’s in order to steal your card information. I hope I’ve provided some useful information to you during your stay here. I think this hotel is great for a romantic getaway and anyone you invite here would be impressed with your choice.
