It's a great pleasure to write a review.I stayed at this hotel many times and I highly recommend it. There is a fantastic outdoor swimming pool which overlooks the ocean. Breakfast was the highlight. The hotel staff were very nice to me. This hotel has direct access to the beach. My room was spacious and clean. The only downside was that i found mold in the bathroom and eletrical wiring cover loose and hanging under the desk. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

We had a nice stay in this hotel, a very nice venue to dine at the restaurant.

the rooms could need some more love.

the location is top, just some minutes walk from ipanema and copacabana

Come here often and enjoy it a lot. Secluded from all the bustle from Copa and Ipanema yet a short walk or car ride away from there. Great breakfast restaurant and Martini bar to relax in the evening. Not to mention the beautiful pool and beach area and every room has an ocean view. Tennis courts and a great gymnasium plus a fabulous spa. All in all a great place to stay. Highly recommend it. Thanks

Great base to see Rio

In a three-week holiday to South America this was the only place, out of six locations, where we chose to stay in a large hotel, but it proved to be the perfect way to see Rio. The Sheraton is located just past the end of Leblon beach and has its own quiet and semi-private beach area. It's not possible to walk (easily) to any of the other beaches, but as Rio is a big place and there is a plentiful supply of taxis, ubers and buses, this was not a problem.

The hotel itself has wonderful facilities (as you would expect of a Sheraton) and pool area, beach, bars and restaurants were as good as we've seen - and provided a welcome escape from the bustle and intense 'life' of downtown Rio. Casa de Cachaca (in the pool area) was a great place for lunch and L'Etoile provided a fantastic dining experience on the 26th floor.

However, no one goes to Rio just to stay in a hotel and the team at the concierge desk were just wonderful at recommending restaurants (Zuka was our favourite, followed by a small restaurant on Copacabana beach with live music and a chance to watch the beach volleyball), a samba bar (Rio Scenarium - a must if you want to dip your toe into Brazilian music, dance and culture) and a tour to take in the amazing Cristo Redentor, Selaron Steps and Sugar Loaf mountain - in all, providing a great base from which to get just a small insight into the amazing Brazil experience.

Great beach but...

Upon arrival there was a line at the reception. Honestly this is not done for a 5 start hotel. You should provide enough people at the reception and work efficiently. There were only 2 members of staff and they were SLOW.
When it was finally our turn we had heard our 2 rooms were on separate floors. Traveling with kids, not ideal! We paid extra to upgrade to the club level in the end.
The club level lounge is nice but for some reason they keep the 26th floor cold as a freezer. People were going back to their rooms to get sweaters! Breakfast in the restaurant next to the lounge had the same issue. Very few people eat breakfast there because of the lack of choice, but still and the main reason: FREEZING!!!
When I made the remark to the manager another guest immediately approached and said the same thing. A/C was not lowered and we did not have breakfast there again. Buffet downstairs is better with choice of food and temperature.
Pool was nice and enough loungers. Beach was very nice with chairs. This is not a private beach by any means. Many locals come here as well. You do however have some hotel chairs that you can use.
Roomservice was probably the worst food I had in my South American trip. I did order another time thinking it was an exception. Still it was really not good! Food at the pool bar is beter but with an extremely slow service.
Check out was a bit quicker than check in so that was nice. A line did form behind me. Again NOT OK for a 5* hotel. And trust me I have been to many of them! During the whole stay I was disappointed in the staff, especially the reception.
I did give a 3 however because of
1. the concierge was very good and we needed him since nothing is walking distance from the hotel
2. Housekeeping did a good job
3. Agnaldo at the club lounge was extremely welcoming
4. when we had passed on housekeeping, they had called us in the evening to ask if we needed something. That was a nice touch!
