This hotel has been nothing but fantastic
We arrived to the hotel, greeted by very friendly staff and were given complimentary champagne
Our room was on the 12th floor with panoramic views which were lovely to wake up to and watch the sunset from
The rooms are nice and cosy and are well kept
The housekeeping staff do a very good job!
The best thing about this place is it has a rooftop pool and bar which has 180 degree views of Copacabana beach, very chill and relaxed atmosphere with great relaxing music
All in all, 5/5 place to stay

Good hotel on Copacabana Beach.

This is good hotel in a great location right on Copacabana Beach, it has a super rooftop pool and bar with great views all along the beach the of the bay and of Christ the Redeemer.
It also has a area on the beach where chairs and beds are provided.
Check in was quick and professional by friendly halpfull staff which was the same where ever you were in the hotel, our room was clean and efficient, bathroom was decent size with a good large shower area.
Hotel has a gym and business center if you require these.
Breakfast was served in the resturant on the first floor from 6 till 10 and it was very good, buffet style with loads to choose from, so much choice I would expect it to suit most tastes and expectations.
Overall we enjoyed our short stay here and would be happy to use the hotel again.

We booked the hotel last minute. We paid extra for a suite with a sea view.

The suite was a really good size with excellent beach views.

For me, what let the hotel down is their greed. Even though we had booked a suite, everything in the room was extra including a Nespresso pod!

Liked the rooftop bar and the views, however, service was always very slow.

Having lived and worked in Portugal and knowing the Porto Bay brand well, this one was bit of a let down.

Rooms need modernising and investment.

Location very good.

Great hotel right on Copacabana Beach

I stayed at the Porto Bay for 2 nights with my sister early November 2018 before joining a cruise ship.
We had a fantastic twin room with a balcony that had a brilliant view over Copacabana looking towards Ipanema. The room was well equipped and modern with 2 nice comfortable double beds and a great bathroom. The room was kept spotlessly clean.
We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was superb with a huge array of different breakfast dishes - English, Continental, American, Brazilian and a wide selection of fresh tropical fruits and juices. The breakfast restaurant also has a fantastic view of Copacabana Beach.
Check in was quick and hassle-free with a lovely, friendly guy called Sasha on reception. The staff on reception were always willing to help with any problem and to give information on the locality. There is a really nice terrace on the roof with a delightful small pool and bar which has the best views looking both ways on Copacabana. They also have their own sunbeds and bar on the beach which sadly we didn't get chance to use. There are lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants nearby.
Overall, a really nice, clean, modern hotel at a reasonable price - we thought it was excellent value for money.

Really enjoyed our stay here, great location

Very well located hotel right on Copacabana Beach and within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants and clubs. Taxi rank right by the hotel for easy access to transport when going further afield and feels very safe.
The highlight of the public areas has to be the roof top bar and swimming pool. Great views of Copacabana Beach, Christ The Redeemer, the Two Brothers and Sugar Loaf Mountain during the day but even more spectacular when the sun sets or when the beach and statue of Christ are lit up at night. Very nice, if quite small pool with plenty of recliners for sun bathing. The bar and restaurant area make a nice place for an evening drink before or after venturing out. The menu includes light meals and we would recommend the quiches which we had on arrival at the hotel. The Breakfast Room is situated on the 5th Floor and has panoramic views across Copacabana Beach. Very good buffet breakfast with a full range of hot and cold food on offer. One of the best we have had actually.
The hotel has an area of Copacabana with its own chairs and parasols and which has staff permanently on hand.
Our room was on the left hand side of the hotel as you look at it from the beach. We had a balcony with a full view of Christ The Redeemer, The Two Brothers and part of Copacabana from our 17th floor balcony. A nice room, very comfortable beds, fridge, room safe, TV, and good sized bathroom. Good levels of cleanliness throughout.
Glass of fizz on arrival was a nice touch and we did not have to wait for our room on arrival.
Would recommend this hotel to friends.
