How to Get There
Great little hotel (very narrow!) with a tiddly plunge pool on the roof and little gym. The breakfast room is a little small but seems to just cope and by Brazilian standards there is good variety.
The bed was a little soft for us but this place is good value right on Copacabana beach just a few blocks from Ipanema.
Avoid room 1304 (and probably 1305 and 1306) near the thirteenth floor bar which can have a noisy TV and guests late into the evening.
My son and I stayed there in May . It was perfect for both of us. The staff were kind and very accommodating. In particular our chamber maid . She was very kind and helpful.
The location of this hotel couldn’t be better . The roof top pool / bar / fitness areas offered great views of the beach. It was really lovely at night
We had a short stay in Orla Hotel but it was a great experience and we hope to come back one day. We were a little concerned about the safety situation in Rio but Douglas from the reception was very helpful giving us great tips about the city making our experience in Rio beyond our expectations. Thanks!
The hotel is located right in front of Copacabana Beach about 10 minites walking to Ipanema. The room was small but very clean and confortable. On the top floor there is a nice pool and you have an amazing view of Copacabana and the Sugar Loaf mountain. The breakfast is good with different options and Raphael and the other staff were very efficient.
I truly recommend Orla Hotel if you plan to stay in Copacabana Beach for a reasonable price.
We found Orla to be in the perfect location, despite warnings to be careful in Rio, each evening we wandered across the road to the beach, found a great beachside bar/cafe (No.55 I think) with live music and fantastic enthusiastic waiters.
We stayed on level one with ocean views, a must. The room was adequate, nothing fancy, the bathroom clean and recently refurbished.
The wait staff at breakfast are delightful and efficient, as was the barman in the tiny bar on the ground floor.
We found the five different members of reception we encountered to be efficient, but unwelcoming (we apologised each time we spoke to them that we couldn’t speak Portuguese) each of them reluctantly spoke English to us.
Now here is what we were saying....
Our safe doesn’t lock...
Reply: have you read the instructions for use? The maintenance man found that the safe battery was dead!
Our A/C seems to be jammed on seventeen degrees ...
Reply: You have to change the temperature with the remote!
Maintenance man ... the remote is broken, I’m sorry but I don’t have another one.
Our keys seem to have demagnetised and we can’t access our room.
Reply: Let me see ... ahhhhh yes it has been configured incorrectly! No apology.
We arrived at midnight having taken three hours to drive from the airport during the recent tragic floods of Rio.... no greeting, just a raised eyebrow that we were so late!
Would I recommend the hotel, yes, but the reception staff need a good bollocking on hospitality skills.
Must be the narrowest hotel on the Copacabana, but it’s value for money. Staff is very professional, friendly and multilingual. Rooms are small but clean and in tiptop shape. Firm mattress, small fridge, satellite tv and quiet airco. Bathroom is small but clean and has all you need.
Breakfast is very good with a wide choice of fruits, breads, sweets, eggs&bacon etc.
Only disappointment is the pool on the rooftop which is smaller than the pictures make it look Ample sitting space though with one heck of a view. And very decent caiparinha’s!
