It doesn’t get much more iconic Rio than this: a contemporary, sexy hotel fronting one of the city’s most famous beaches, Copacabana, and within strolling distance of another, Ipanema. The 200-room Miramar offers butler service and pool and beach attendants on hand to cater to guests’ every vacation whim. The lobby restaurant, Sá, offers a primer in local Brazilian cuisine (Carioca, which is also the term for Rio’s inhabitants). Relax under an umbrella on the wide, sandy beach in front of the hotel, or retire to the rooftop to work out in the fitness center, sweat it out in the sauna or just laze with a caipirinha by the infinity pool.
In the Area
Drag yourself away from the beach to take in a performance at the magnificent Municipal Theater in nearby downtown Rio. This Belle Epoque opera house, modeled on the Paris Opera, offers a year-round program and daily guided tours. Indulge your carnivore instincts at a churrascaria, Brazil’s version of BBQ; the Ipanema branch of the famed Porcão Rio offers a groaning buffet of grilled meats that’s sure to hit the spot. After dark sample some of Rio’s famous nightlife, which encompasses everything from casual botequim (bars or cafés) to high-octane discos, many situated on Atlantica Avenue, within staggering distance of the hotel.
How to Get There
High leven Hotel direct on Copacabana Beach, very clean, fantastic breakfast buffet, the pool is a dream, very kind personnel - very clean room - I really recommend this Hotel to everyone - fantastic!
We have just left today and spent 10 nights here. I dont know were to start as the Hotel and staff were superb!! The breakfast was top class with so much to choose from, there was something for any palette. The roof top pool was an added bonus with amazing views of the whole of Copacabana beach and nice bar with snacks, it was so much more relaxing than the beach. The room was spacious we had a superior double room, the house keeping team kept the room spotless and the chocolates on your bed at turndown was a nice touch. I cannot say enough about the fantastic team that work here they were brilliant...We will definetly go back
We stayed in the Miramar hotel for 4 nights at the start of our trip to Brazil. It was the perfect way to start and Rio is an incredible city which I hope to return to soon!
The hotel is in a great location, right on Copacabana beach. Book an ocean view room and you will not be disappointed - we were in room 1401 and the view was stunning. Other room features include plenty of plug sockets (including one right next to each side of the bed), a great jacuzzi bath and air con. WiFi worked well in the room and throughout the hotel. Very clean, with chocolates offered by the turndown service (although it's not great quality chocolate... that's perhaps the only minor fault I can point out!) and regularly replenished toiletries.
Friendly staff are on hand everywhere and more than happy to help with taxis, restaurant recommendations and reservations. They all spoke excellent English, and at least one or two other languages by the sound of it. Reception have plug socket adapters available if you need them - it says in many places online that the common European 2-prong plug works in Brazil but they do not fit properly in the sockets in this hotel.
Breakfast is a buffet, served in the Sá restaurant. There's a wide choice including hot (bacon, sausages, egg) and cold (meat, cheese, pastries, cereal, fruit) foods. It was consistently good throughout our stay and the wait staff are excellent, regularly topping up coffee and tea.
The pool is on the roof and offers unbelievable views out over Copacabana beach. There are comfortable sun loungers and towels available up there, and a well stocked bar. If the beach is more your thing the hotel also has it's own small section with beach chairs and umbrellas available.
There's a small business centre on the 1st floor with a printer that can be used for free - useful if you need to print e.g. boarding passes for an onward flight.
Overall, this was one of the most memorable stays I've had in any hotel anywhere in the world. In off season it's really good value too. I'm not sure if we were just lucky with the weather (sunny and 30 degrees every day) but I don't really see why the Rio winter in June/July is an off season for tourism! We only left yesterday and I'm already thinking about when I might be able to return.
We enjoyed our stay here. Right by lots of places to visit. Nice staff. Copacabana half a block away! The breakfast was consistently good. Plenty to eat. Very comfortable room, nice and clean. I would recommend this hotel.
My meal in this restaurant was fantastic and the service was exceptional!
Wine was a lovely Merlot that opened beautifully with the steak that was cooked to perfection.
The petite fours served with my coffee were delightful.
I’d highly recommend this restaurant.
