Loved it

I went during the time of carnival and Rio was full so I got this great deal at Mercure . After booking and paying, I went to read the reviews and most people kept saying this place is far from everything. What they didn’t mention is , the hotel offers complementary shuttle to the near by beaches, shopping malls and train station.

We had a great time here

My stay

I really enjoyed my stay at grand mercure. However the first room I was assigned too had a very bad smell ... they changed me right away to a different room. It was really nice and fast. A negative point is that they do not have insecticide to mosquitoes which sometimes come inside if we leave the window open. But in general it was a good stay!

Nice stay at the hotel near obr congress. The only problem it was far from the centre of the city.

The rooms were clean, quiet, the personel pleasant.

First of all I would like to thank to our guide Kiko and the driver Roberto .
Kiko took our group around Rio,showed us all important sights, took us to perfect restaurants. He was extremely kind and had perfect sense of humour. Rio without Kiko would not be the right cup od tea. He had perfect english and was very polite.
Everybody from our group of 14 people wish to have Kiko as a guide when we come to Rio next time.

A marvelous experience

A tad expensive, but nevertheless a marvelous experience. Great views from the bedroom windows. The food was great, although I missed some variety (particularly speaking). The hotel is in a great location.

Next to congress hall
Reviewed 6 months ago

The convenience of this hotel with professional staff from reception till restaurants is the fact that is next door to the congress hall. Room was spacious enough, clean and well equipped. Espresso machine in room is always welcome at an early morning.Insulation could be better. Buffet in restaurant is average. Advised taxis are safe and belonging to registered companies. Fitness is small for amount of guests, idem for pool. Room price is overrated, but this is Rio.
