How to Get There
My family stayed on the 13th floor in two rooms in April 2019. Check in was easy and we left our bags and headed to Ipanema for a days walking. The whole coastal area is just cool. Great people watching, lots of activity, art, sand art and sports etc... .
When we got back we went to our rooms. WOW! That view is something else. We then went to the beach and leapt about in the waves for a couple of hours. Great fun (even if I did hurt my neck quite badly). The water was really warm. If you want a quiter ride the Ipanema end is virtually wave free (think stand up paddling and small children swimming).
When we'd showered we went up to the rooftop for a quick dip and a drink. It's a great spot and we could have stayed there for many hours. However we decided to go to the Copacobana Palace Hotel for dinner. Just a short walk away and excellent.
The sleep was as expected and the morning was another Wow moment. The sunrise was magnificent! Breakfast was OK but not great. Coffee especially disappointing.
Overall we all loved staying here and wish we'd had longer. I'm definitely coming back!
Booked and paid for USD395 for 3 nights. I ended up checking in at 05.30hrcand checking out 23.00hr ...same day.
1) hotel doesn't loan iron to guests. Had one simple kaftan pressed for USD10 (Real36,) This takes 5 mins.
2) was charged for 2 bottles of ordinary water even though I had one. Reception said from 0530 to 2300 I was likely to have had 2 bottles.
I am a good tipper and money is not an issue at all but I have to say I was disgusted that the Hotel did NOT even offer the guest one bottle of water like all the hotels I have visited over the past 20 days
Only positive here is that the staff are polite and helpful... that's all.
Definitely not a hotel I will go back to.
My friend and I stayed here for a week in March and loved every minute. She burst into tears when we went up to the pool bar area on the 12th floor with its spectacular views along Copacabana Beach. We were really well looked after during our holiday and the Reception staff deserve a special mention: they were so helpful. We upgraded, very reasonably, to a partial sea view and it was worth it. This hotel is really handy for everything: restaurants, metro, buses to town and to Ipanema. We absolutely loved it and can only hope we will have a chance to return.
Location cannot be better. Right on the Copacabana beach front and centrally to the length of the beach. Room was well laid out and tastefully furnished. We had an excellent beach view. Breakfasts great and wifi reliable and fast. Hotel cannot easily be faulted.
The only criticism was the fact that housekeeping staff did not always replace dirty towels or cups in the room. The lift was a bit small and rickety and not good for persons with claustrophobia.
The hotel is very nice, clean and modern decoration. It is smaller than average, so it feels cozy and friendly. The location is perfect, in the middle of Copacabana beach and most of the rooms offer a beach view. In the terrace, there is a bar and a pool (it is very small though) with an outstanding view. The fitness center is also located at the terrace, but it is very small and needs a renovation of the equipment (which is very good Technogym equipment, but outdated). Although the breakfast offers a big variety of options, I was surprised that, differently from other hotels of the same level, they wanted to charge extra for omelettes, "tapioca" (typical Brazilian wrap made of yucca flour) and espresso...Service also needs attention, as for a couple of times I had to call the reception 2-3 times to follow up on my requests. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer a beach service, with chairs/ umbrellas etc...Wi-fi was also very bad most of the time.
