Downtown Boulder sleep with easy access to Pearl Street Mall and the Flatiron Mountains
With an earthy exterior of rust-colored stone and muted greens and golds, the four-story St Julien Hotel & Spa blends naturally into the jagged mountain backdrop of downtown Boulder. Floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides of the oversize hotel lounge blur the line between inside and out, as does the glass fireplace that anchors one end of the room, offering peekaboo views of the outdoor fountain just beyond. A blend of locals and guests mingle in what’s become Boulder’s favorite living room, sipping mulled wine while curled up on deep couches and chatting about the latest Pearl Street oddities. Rooms balance the rugged outdoors with indoor creature comforts with their rich wood floors, plush earthtone rugs, natural stone walls and soaring ceilings, as well pillow-top mattresses and Italian linens. Little touches like custom art by a local photographer and an iPod dock add to the homey vibe.
In the Area
The hotel sits right in the middle between Boulder’s Rocky Mountain majesty and its urban epicenter. On one side are the craggy, climbable Flatiron Mountains and access to the city’s 45,000 acres of hikeable open space. On the other is the Pearl Street Mall, a pedestrian-friendly hub of boutiques, cafés, bookshops, breweries, street performers, and no shortage of dining options. Resident foodies have a preference for local, organic ingredients, and the most sought-after restaurants in town deliver. St Julien’s restaurant, Jill’s, holds its own. The handlebar-mustached Frenchman’s penchant for tableside cooking, from steak to bananas foster, means your entire meal can now be prepared while you watch.
