Great location. Lovely hotel. Great service(apart from at the pool) and great food. Getting a wee bit past it’s sell by date but still very good. Would recommend if in area. Not worth going out of way to.

A heavenly stay at villa gallici
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Just returned from a six day trip in Aix-en-Provence, an amazing and beautiful city.
We were invited by our friends to stay at this unbelievable, beautiful villa in Aix, Villa Gallici.
The place is a real heaven, beautifully designed, surrounded with jasmine flowers as well as beautiful gardens. The private balcony was very romantic and could be seen through beautiful Provençal style transparent doors.
The breakfast is amazing, guests are seated on an astonishing veranda and serviced by professional personnel, especially Michel, who seasoned the atmosphere with his professional approach , sense of humor and his unique personality.
We all definitely enjoyed every minute of our stay

Quite a gem!

I believe that the photos on TripAdvisor do not reflect how truly beautiful this place is. The grounds are heavenly, from the abundant and extremely fragrant jasmine, to an incredible collection of hybrid roses, the experience for me was beautiful. We had a balcony over hanging the gardens where we could listen to the church bells of Cathedrale St. Sauveur. The villa was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Great care was taken to refurbish this beautiful mansion to pristine condition. However, what really makes Villa Gallici so special is its staff. Besma greeted us with open arms and made sure no details were overlooked. We had an amazing young man who made every dinner an experience (and sadly I failed to get his name...). My life will be better for having experienced this little slice of heaven.

Average at best...and I am being kind

OMG. Where to start.

On arrival, despite being Relais and Chateaux 5C members, we were allocated the worst room in the property and without any chance (i.e. no one considered) of an upgrade.

The hotel is tired and in need of investment. In our room (alone)...a) no sockets to charge laptops or computers (and I mean zero) - we had to unplug the TV to get one socket that worked, b) the a/c was useless ("sorry it is an old house, that's the best it will work") the absolute lowest temperature we got our room to was about 23-24 degrees...not good enough for a 5 star hotel, c) the hot water was just warm, d) the shower drain was blocked, meaning that you had to stand in ankle deep water.

The staff...a mixture of disinterested to great. The food was OK, not special. The wine list was ordinary. Drinks at the bar at night, we had to chase staff every time to order.

When we returned from dinner, we found our room unserviced...I asked reception whether we had turn down, she said they were coming - that was 10 pm at night !!! You are kidding.

Paint peeling, dodgy a/c, poor attitude, attention to detail very low.

The GM (MD in this case) is a very nice chap...but wow, the place is just average. Seriously average. And in a country that has some great properties. Something is just wrong here, but we don't have time to find out, nor do we want to.

My wife said it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, I don't think that is correct, but certainly the worst hotel that we have stayed in for 30 years plus.

For those writing glowing reviews, we can only assume you have never stayed in one of the great (or even good) properties that exist globally.

Lovely Luxury Hotel

Villa Gallici is our third Relais & Chateau Hotel this trip. Each property offers something special. This was a lovely experience, even with rain most days! The hotel is overflowing with gorgeous flowers! We enjoy a balance of five star dining at hotel, and the ability to walk to local life and restaurants. This hotel provided that option! The pool is heated perfectly. The gardens are flowering and artful. The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed. Tea and Nespresso provided in the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends! We did not take time for the spa, lunch or afternoon tea on property. The parking is private and gated. There is not a dedicated concierge, but all the staff is helpful. (If you look closely, you can see the property is aging. This should not detour a visit. They are currently working on maintenance as they can to not disrupt)
The staff is kind and attentive, but a few stand out. At the reception, Christel welcomed us with a beautiful smile and great English. She is very professional and kind. She noted it was our honeymoon and upgraded our suite. We had Room 1.
At night in the restaurant, Julien the Sommelier both waited on us and provided excellent wine guidance. He has a friendly smile every time you see him! During our stay he recommended Chateau Lacoste for tour, tasting, and lunch then he asked us about our visit the next day. Excellent attention and service!
At breakfast each morning, Michel manages a beautiful dining experience. He is very friendly, speaks multiple languages, has great conversation, and provides excellent service. Breakfast can not be missed!
