Elegant Old World hotel in Boston's Back Bay with a celebrity chef restaurant and an award-winning sushi bar
The prestigious 95-room Eliot Hotel has been operated by the same family since the 1930s, and it continues to host dignitaries, as well as leisure and corporate travelers, in Boston’s Back Bay. The guestrooms feature soft cream designer decor with azure accents, marble bathrooms, soundproof windows, flat-screen TVs, plush bathrobes and Anichini fabric throws. Suites also feature living rooms and bedrooms separated by double French doors. The Clio restaurant serves French cuisine and offers a five- and nine-course menu created by celebrity chef Ken Oringer (as well as à la carte). Menu items may include roasted halibut with romesco sauce, crisp Muscovy duck with confit fennel or lamb with charred eggplant. The Eliot has also been honored with numerous accolades for a second restaurant, the Uni Sashimi Bar, where guests can watch master chefs prepare their meals.
In the Area
Visitors can meander down Newbury Street and explore restaurants and boutiques on their way to Copley Square (less than a mile from the hotel), which also hosts a farmers market on Tuesdays and Fridays. Several beautiful churches can also be found in the neighborhood, as well as the public gardens. Families can check out the New England Aquarium or the Boston Children’s Museum — both a short ride on public transit. For an elegant night out, the Boston Opera House hosts touring Broadway shows, ballets and other musical performances. Those seeking dining options nearby can make reservations at Asta, a new American restaurant that specializes in tasting menus, followed by cocktails at City Bar, an upscale Back Bay lounge.
