What a gem of a hotel! I loved it!
Reviewed 1 week ago

I made a solo trip to Prague and Budapest in November/December 2018 and after reading the reviews of the Golden Well Hotel I decided to stay here. I am so glad I did. It is in a very interesting area (lesser town) directly below the castle. I mean DIRECTLY below the castle. So, the views from my windows were very similar to the views from the castle. My room (a superior on the 4th floor...number 42) was large, with a king bed, two lovely comfortable chairs (for reading or watching TV), a lovely and well-stocked coffee and tea station, a beautiful antique cabinet with the TV inside) and a fairly large bath (especially for Europe) with a toilet with a warmed bidet seat (like my Toto washlet at home :-)), and a large bathtub with rain shower and handheld shower. It was very cold outside, but very warm and cozy in my room. Large closet with safe. Mainly, I found the service to be excellent. At 4 PM each day, they put out several different selections of wine (and water of course) along with excellently prepared small bites for the guests to enjoy, gratis. This is included with your room. Occasionally, when I was not really hungry enough for dinner, I just sat in this little lounge/library for a while and snacked and drank a couple of glasses of wine. Now...here is something very special. The Terasa restaurant is in the Golden Well and it is simply excellent. When I booked, my breakfast was not included. The receptionist offered the breakfast to me at 20 euros per day (typically way higher if you just came to the hotel for brunch) and it was excellent. You order a la carte, and there is an entire page of selections. They serve you sparkling wine, if you wish, and refill your glass as much as you like. The breakfast goes from 7 to 11, and they do close it at 11 on the dot. However, when I ate late, I simply was not hungry for almost the rest of the day. I also ate dinner in this restaurant twice and it is MARVELOUS! The views are spectacular over the city, and in the warm months there is terrace dining. The Terasa restaurant is a Prague destination in and of itself. Okay, you can tell I loved the whole experience and I would (and will) absolutely stay here again.

One of the loveliest hotels I've stayed in

This hotel is tucked under the walls of Prague Castle so it is a perfect base from which to explore the city but don't book if you are looking for a buzzing bar and nightlife because this may not be for you. We had a beautiful room which was meticulously cleaned and a wonderfully comfortable bed. There was a coffee machine, lots of wardrobe space, TV, an i-pad for our use, good wifi, small treats such as brownies or cakes left for us each evening. Tea time snacks were offered to us from 4pm in a sitting room with board games, a TV and magazines. The food was delicious and the restaurant had stunning views of the city. The staff were kind and always helpful. This is an utterly charming hotel which offers old-fashioned comfort and service but supplies all the technology a modern traveller might want. Can't wait to go back one day!

Fantastic hotel in a great location.
The restaurant is incredible as well.

All of the staff are very helpful and the rooms are high quality. I can’t wait to stay again.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they will welcome you at he door and help decide what to see and do whilst you stay in Prague.

Very good value for what you get.

Thank you!

We had high expectations but The Golden Well was even better than expected. The staff were abundantly friendly and helpful and the room was cosy and warm. The remote control toilet (with a heated seat!) was a bonus, as was the lovely lounge area with free canapés and wine between 4 and 6pm. The location is perfect and we couldn’t imagine a better place to base ourselves during our stay in Prague! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Lovely hotel, great location

A beautiful place to stay in Praha if you are looking for a quiet but still very central hotel. And breakfast in this hotel is a must! You get one of the best views of Praha, and in the Summer you can walk straight into the Kings Gardens! Enjoy 😊
