The century-old palace hotel is the epitome of elegance and tradition, with Viennese Art Nouveau–style facades and interiors, and a welcoming, intimate vibe that has had its guestbook signed by the likes of Mick Jagger and Uma Thurman. The 124 guest rooms and suites are spacious and feel even more so, thanks to high ceilings and terrific city views in some of them. They have sumptuous colors and textures— think damask draperies and striped overstuffed armchairs. The Gourmet Club restaurant has an English-style turn-of-the-20th-century ambience, with an open fire and grand piano, and has been named one of Prague’s top restaurants.
In the Area
The Palace Hotel is in the UNESCO-protected city center, just a few steps from lively Wenceslas Square and the Na Prikope shopping street. Peruse the international luxury brands and homegrown specialists like Moser, which has sold high-end Czech crystal and cut glass since 1857. The Prague State Opera is also quite close by, the most beautiful of the city’s opera houses, built in 1888 and a stage to musicians like Enrico Caruso, Richard Strauss, and Gustav Mahler.
How to Get There
My partner and I have just got back from staying at this hotel, we stayed for 5 nights and totally recommend this hotel! The hotel itself is immaculate and the staff are all so polite and helpful. The hotel is about a 10/15 walk to the old town and a 5 minute walk from wenceslas square so all in all it’s an ideal location and you get what you pay for!
The room once again was immaculate and had such a cosy feel to it, this is something I look for when going away as I want to be comfortable in it! The bed was so comfortable and just what you would’ve wanted to have fallen into after a long day of drinking and walking! The bathroom was also incredibly clean and one of the more modern features in the hotel, which was lovely!
All in all this hotel is the perfect place for a little get away in Prague and I couldn’t recommend it more. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are friendly and it’s central! What more could you want?
This was our second stay at the Art Nouveau and yet again we was more than happy with the accommodation. On arrival we was upgraded to a suite which was amazing. The room was lovely and warm and extremely comfortable.Breakfasts are worth the stay alone. Everything is well cooked and sets you up for a day sight seeing. Location wise is perfect with all main tourist places within a close walk.In the evening the bar is a great place to relax and have a drink. When we return back to Prague we will definitely stay here again.
I stayed at this hotel with my mother for her birthday. The hotel is extremely clean with an excellent breakfast. The hotel staff are what make this hotel though. On the first night my mothers boot broke and the reception staff immediately phoned for a technician. The technician came to our room, took the boot and mended in 15 minutes! On my mothers birthday the hotel organised a beautiful cake and glasses of bubbly for breakfast (there was also a bottle of bubbly in the room on arrival). We got abit lost on a day out and called the hotel who promptly organised a taxi to collect us. There is nothing they wouldn’t do for us. Excellent hotel with excellent staff. Thankyou to all the staff at the hotel. We will be recommending the hotel to all friends.
We arrived here after having our original booking for the Astoria was cancelled due to refurbishment, EasyJet might want to let people know prior to arriving, anyway, we were more than happy to arrive here, a beautiful hotel located bang central in town which was ideal for both the New town and Old Town. Rooms were elegant, spotless well furnished and a delight to stay in. Mini bar (albeit not free) robes and towels, high end toiletries, very good heating and a smart phone you could take out and about with you(lovely touch) full of hints, tips, maps etc. Breakfast was amazing, anything you wanted was there, so I cant understand why some people say it was not very good, I suppose you cant please everyone. I would give this Hotel 5 star plus if I could, the staff are fantastic, only what you would expect from a high class establishment. The signed photos that adorn the bar and restaurant from anyone who is and was anyone are sufficient proof that this hotel is "up there" with the best of them in Europe. Total pleasure, would recommend to anyone and we will stay here again, no doubt!!!!! Thank you Palace Hotel.
This hotel was recommended to us by some friends who has stayed there a few years back. Everything they encountered we also enjoyed. Reception was helpful to us even before we had left home, booking taxi's and our collection from the airport and helping us with our intended opera visit. Recommendation, book your collection and airport return through the hotel, good prices and excellent comfortable cars. A discount if you book the return journey. The room was a good size and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. The location is very good for most major attractions. The breakfasts were very comprehensive, as is customary I enjoy both the local breakfast, cheese, herrings, picked sausages, meats and then move on to the "cooked breakfast" of which there was an excellent selection of all customary items. There seemed to be "champagne" at the weekend, which I do enjoy with breakfast, but not during the week, pity! The staff, like all the Czech people we met during our visit were soft, helpful and charming.
My only surprise having regard to the quality of the hotel and particularly reading other reviews and spending time with other guests during our stay was to learn of upgrades. My wife and I go away at this time of the year, every year to celebrate my birthday, she always mentions during the booking that it is my birthday (sometimes "special"!) and I have always received a small bottle of wine, a cake, a desert or some small acknowledgement of the occasion. This time nothing. No complaint, just a comment compared to other hotels of similar quality across Europe and the US.
