The century-old palace hotel is the epitome of elegance and tradition, with Viennese Art Nouveau–style facades and interiors, and a welcoming, intimate vibe that has had its guestbook signed by the likes of Mick Jagger and Uma Thurman. The 124 guest rooms and suites are spacious and feel even more so, thanks to high ceilings and terrific city views in some of them. They have sumptuous colors and textures— think damask draperies and striped overstuffed armchairs. The Gourmet Club restaurant has an English-style turn-of-the-20th-century ambience, with an open fire and grand piano, and has been named one of Prague’s top restaurants.
In the Area
The Palace Hotel is in the UNESCO-protected city center, just a few steps from lively Wenceslas Square and the Na Prikope shopping street. Peruse the international luxury brands and homegrown specialists like Moser, which has sold high-end Czech crystal and cut glass since 1857. The Prague State Opera is also quite close by, the most beautiful of the city’s opera houses, built in 1888 and a stage to musicians like Enrico Caruso, Richard Strauss, and Gustav Mahler.
How to Get There
We stayed at the Art Nouveau Palace Hotel in Prague at the end of a river cruise. We were delighted with everything about this hotel. The rooms were spacious and elegant. The staff was professional. The location was ideal. The included breakfast was more than satisfactory, even including an espresso machine (which we didn't find out about until our last day-sigh.) The hotel restaurant, although limited in choices, was fabulous. The cream of dill soup was SO good. One of my friends ordered the cheeseburger, and then wondered how he was going to get his mouth around it, it was so big (he managed)! The marble bath was spectacular, although we were puzzled by the half-door on the shower. Why only half a door? We also thought that the tub, although perfect for soaking, might be a little too high to comfortably get in and out. And my roommate tripped over the slight step from the bathroom every time. But those are nit-picks. Honestly, the ship's cabins were nice, but necessarily small. It felt downright luxurious to have all that space and beauty, too. If I'm fortunate enough to travel to Prague again, I'll be staying here.
A stunning hotel in a great location with really nice staff. They were quick to repsond to queries I had before the trip and extremely polite and helpful during our stay. I would definitely stay here again! We were first-time visitors to Prague and needed some guidance on where to travel and sightsee, the staff gave us loads of maps and brochures to help us on our way. The room was delightful, clean and had a stunning view of the city!
The hotel was in a great location and would highly recommend to anyone. Reception staff (especially Monika) were pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast was a good and wide choice. The rooms are comfortable and net.We recommend this hotel all the time and we will come back next time.
