Iconic glamour, over-the-top service and a Wolfgang Puck restaurant steps from Rodeo Drive
The iconic Beverly Wilshire has been hosting high rollers, celebs, execs and politicians since 1928, but it may be best known for its role in the beloved Julia Roberts film Pretty Woman (and guys will be psyched to know that Entourage regularly filmed here as well). This sleep is, appropriately, just steps from Rodeo Drive and boutiques by Tiffany and Co., Versace and Cartier are actually the view on one side of the hotel while the Hollywood Hills are the main view on the other. All guestrooms and suites are decorated in pale, creamy fabrics, with dark wood accents and Four Seasons’ classic mix of antique reproductions and modern furniture; all have marble bathrooms with soaking tubs. The spa, designed around a dramatic water wall, offers treatments ranging from Oshadi-clay body wraps to Balinese massages and that Diamond Life Infusion Facial from Natura Bissé. Make dinner reservations at the in-house CUT where cuisine by Wolfgang Puck is paired with design by Getty Center architect Richard Meier.
In the Area
There’s more to Beverly Hills than shopping on Rodeo Drive, though of course a walk down the famed street is a must, even if just for window shopping. Stop at Urth Caffe for a casual lunch and a cup of their signature coffee — it’s a locals’ haunt through and through (which in L.A. means celebs included). If you’re looking for a culture fix, it’s worth the 20-minute drive to the Getty Museum, which showcases European painting and sculpture as well as Greek and Roman antiquities — while still offering one of the best vistas of the city. Farther afield is the Malibu Golf Club, a William Francis Bell–designed course with gently rolling topography, perfect for a day spent admiring the landscape.
