How to Get There
Our room was nice, clean & the beds were great. We needed extra glasses and they had them in our room within minutes.
We had our class reunion there and everyone had a great time.
We had lots of guests stay there. The room that held the reunion was nice.
It had a dance floor raised up and dining tables below so we had plenty of space. They had bus service to one of the house parties.
Very good hotel, restaurant and bar. Found a very high level of service at check-in and elsewhere. Really liked the layout of the reception area that was open to the and dining area. Pretty much a typical Marriott business class hotel.
Recently stayed at this property for a night. Would describe this as a mixed-bag hotel, leaning towards a solid property with a few flaws.
Staff were friendly and efficient. This included check-in, bar staff, and everyone I met in-between. Kudos to management for having a great team that makes a guest feel really welcome.
Room was spotless, so kudos for having such a crack cleaning squad, as well.
Internet is free and fast.
Parking is also free and convenient.
Location is good for much of what you'd want/need to do in Troy.
Bar was hoppin' on a Wednesday evening. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and poured solid drinks.
Room was well appointed but confused me. It seems like it was recently refreshed... wallpaper looked relatively new, bathroom fixtures all looked shiny and new, some of the furniture also looked new. But the bed and desk looked a little beat up, and the carpet looked like it'd seen plenty of action. Even weirder was the closet door, which looked like it'd come straight from the '70s, and the bathroom light-switch/timer, which looked like it'd been around since the '50s, yellowed and faded. I don't understand why you'd put so much effort into updating so much of the rest of the room, but ignore these things. Didn't impact my stay, per se, but was just... weird.
Not end of the world level stuff, but no room safe isn't awesome. If I'm staying some place and plan to go out for dinner with colleagues or clients, I like to know my computer, tablet, phone, etc, will all be safe and sound tucked into a safe. It's been a long time since I've stayed at a property that didn't offer this basic amenity.
I've seen other reviews where guests complained about the lack of mini-fridge. I'm guessing the person who stayed in the room prior to me must have filed a similar complaint, which was addressed because... my room had a mid-sized fridge randomly stuck in the room, right next to the bed. It was pretty much an eyesore... scratched up, full of dents, and humming away loudly right next to where you're supposed to sleep. I finally unplugged it, but just thought it was bizarre to find it just randomly tossed into the corner of the room.
PRO-TIP: There's a wild turkey living in the bushes out in the front of the hotel. I don't see that often, so thought that was cool.
Staff at the Detroit Marriott Troy was extremely helpful and welcoming. Jaffrey at the front desk is the best, he always made sure I had everything I needed for my stays.
Great to see the hotel was working to update their gym. The space is small, but they added a Peloton bike and new dumbells up to 100lbs.
Very affordable and great location for an event in downtown Detroit. Surprised to find no Mini fridge in room. Toilet appear to be leaking as there was a large puddle on the floor. Beds were extremely soft, which is not my preference. Overall would recommend for a short stay clean and quiet
