How to Get There
Clean rooms, good food, close to San Pedro, all of the staff are friendly, courteous and very helpful. Golf carts are well maintained. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation, especially the water sports.
If you stay on Ambergris Caye we nightly recommend costa Blu! Staff were lovely, room very large and clean, no kids, and is secluded and quiet. They did a great job of communicating during our transfer and we felt totally comfortable and taken care of. Highly recommend renting a golf cart for a day to explore the island too. We didn’t have a single bad meal at the restaurant and overall had a wonderful time. While you can’t really swim directly in the ocean as there’s lots of sea grass and it’s a bit murky, the pool is amazing and overlooks the ocean. I also got an incredible massage by Nina which she did right outside of my room so I could hear the ocean and breeze. Highly recommend for honeymooners!
Only negatives were Shower was pretty cold, but that’s natural when you’re on an island. I liked the bed but my husband felt it was too soft.
Great resort, little off the beaten path but still close enough to town. Great pool and bar area. Bar staff was great and helpful even with off property events and advise. All villas face the gulf. There is no wade in beach at this location. Resort feels empty with all the rooms full.
Costa Blu is absolutely wonderful. The villas are very nice and face the water, the staff are professional, courteous and ready to serve. The pool is amazing, the restaurant is very nice and the bar is a blast. The Costa Blu is a good 35 minute golf cart ride from the hustle and bustle of San Pedro but you will find some of the best restaurants and bars on the island n your drive. Let your adventure began.
Hotel layout - ten 2-floor buildings, 4 units each, all facing the shore, with the lobby/pool/bar/restaurant in the middle - works really well. Our 2nd-floor 1-bdrm unit was clean, nicely furnished: airconditioners, kitchenette w/ microwave + coffeemaker, TV w/ 50+ channels, closet w/ safe. Only 1 very small blemish: hot water in shower lasted 8-10 mins then we'd have to wait a minute for the next "batch" of hot water.
All hotel staff were very accommodating. Front desk staff (Rosalind in the morning and Yancie in the afternoon) were very helpful. And when we thought we'd missed connecting with some other guests, Rosalind went the extra mile to reconnect us.
The restaurant did a nice job of cooking up fresh snapper.
In the Tuff E Nuff dive shop, Hatcher, Shirlene, Janira were very helpful. Mexico Rocks marine park is literally opposite the hotel's dock, so we didn't have to sit in the transfer boat for long before we could start snorkelling.
Hotel is 7 miles north of SanPedro. SandyPoint has their own boat to shuttle guests between airport/town and their properties along the coast so we didn't have to worry about arriving/departing. We rented a golfcart for when we went exploring (TruckStop and SecretBeach) and also into town.
