What We Love
- A luxury boutique hotel housed in a historic building in central Brussels, with breakfastThe stylish and sophisticated interiors of this boutique Design Hotel
- Staying in an ideal location, right behind the famous theater and opera house, Le Monnaie
- Rubbing shoulders with the Brussel’s in-crowd, sipping expertly mixed cocktails in Lounge Bar
Situated within a five-minute stroll of the Grand Place, The Dominican offers style-seekers a welcome retreat from the bustle of the European Union’s capital city. This four-star boutique hotel stands on the site of a 15th-century abbey, just minutes from the famous Théâtre de la Monnaie. A member of Design Hotels™, it has famous dutch duo Bart Lens and FG stijl to thank for its architecturally stunning archways, while rooms ooze style and character in equal measure.
Outside, things are just as nice. Head to the 19th-century, glass-roofed St. Hubert Galleries to shop for labels, or pick a prime people-watching spot in a nearby café or bar. If you’ll be back in time for dinner, reserve a table at Grand Lounge, for a fine-dining experience overlooking the serene courtyard, while cocktails served beneath sky-high ceilings attract an in-the-know crowd to Lounge Bar. There’s a cardio gym and spa as well as a boxing room, to help you work off any overindulgence, and a Finnish sauna and steam room to rid your system of any remaining toxins.
How to Get There
This hotel has nice rooms in an historic building (used to be a monastery, I believe). It definitely has it's own ambiance, complete with scents and sounds reminiscent of the monks that used to live there (chanting and incense).
The hotel has a very cool gym, including a very nice rowing machine (think Kevin Spacey in 'House of Cards') and boxing equipment (heavy bag, speedbag, and gloves). The breakfast buffet was very good, and the hotel is about 5 minutes from the Grand Place. So, just far enough away to be quiet, but definitely close enough to see that entire area by foot.
The overall impression and actuality of the hotel is very good.
Atmosphere, ambiance and quality of things is high.
However I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and check in took 20 mins. Only 1 guy on the desk which I guess would be ok on a quiet pm but as the queue grew no one else arrived to help. A few colleagues came to say hi to their friend and then disappeared.
Room great, very comfy bed and quiet, great sleep.
Breakfast was really poor for the price €27!
Hot things all cold
Cold meats looked like they’d been around for a long time. Disappointing.
Overall a good stay but not the best.
Friendly staff and clean comfortable beds. Room was nice. Coffee machine was filthy so not used. Food services and buffet very expensive. Good restaurants and breakfast places surround the hotel. Worth the price for convenience from Central Station and shops.
Impressively beautiful public areas with very comfortable and well designed rooms that give a luxe and calm feeling in keeping with the Dominican theme. The restaurant serves delicious food and the wine and cocktail list provides a nice selection. The hotel is well located for sight seers being walking distance to the Grand Place and other attractions.
This may very well be the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The Dominican delivered in every way. The service, the cleanliness, the bar, fitness and sauna is outstanding. Almost better still is the ambience and location. You are close to almost everything here, the central station, Grand Place, the main shopping street and lots of great bars and restaurants. But the sounds, the smell, the colors and the decor just made us want to stay at the hotel. When we went out for dinner or shopping, we almost couldn't wait to get back to the hotel. The rooms were very quiet, the bed was big and comfy, the bathroom with a big rainshower was great, the drinks in the bar were awesome and the service minded employees were both kind and helpful. Thanks Dominican, we will surely come back
