Set next to the iconic Grand Place, the NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg is the perfect, stress-free spot for a Brussels city break. In contrast to its ornate neighbours, simplicity is key here with bright, clean spaces, exceptional service and one of the best locations in town.
Step outside and you’re just five minutes from the central Grand Place, with its guildhalls, museums and beautiful town hall. The NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg is perfectly placed for exploring Brussels, close to lots of shopping areas and restaurants and within easy striking distance of the city’s best-known museums, its gothic cathedral and the unmissable botanical gardens. And what’s more, the Eurostar train is just a 30-minute walk away. Parfait.
Expect classic and cosy rooms, comfortable and modern, with smart, neutral décor either one double or twin beds.
The hotel’s bar and ‘open bar’ 24-hour hot food vendor means you’ll never miss a meal. And guests rave about the big buffet breakfasts, with plenty of pastries, cold cuts and cereals, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice.
The NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg is just a five-minute walk from the Grand Place, the central square of Brussels and its best-known sight. The city’s museums, shopping areas and cathedral are all within easy walking distance and the Eurostar, which comes into the Gare du Midi, is about a 30-minute walk away.
How to Get There
This is, by far, the worst NH Hotel we have ever stayed in.The room was very substandard (sixth floor) with several items not functioning properly including: bathroom extractor fan, thermostatic shower valve, shower height adjustment, bathroom flashing lighting,TV system only received one channel - all others were blocked. Missing items included mini bar price list, do not disturb notice, hangers, spare blanket, spare pillow, instructions for use of TV system. The air conditioning system was very noisy, quite primitive and old fashioned technology. The room was either too cold because of the icy air blast or too hot even with the window open. Very noisy at night - worst few nights spent in any hotel anywhere in the world. Inflexible, expensive breakfast - only buffet offered at around Euros 24/head, even if you only had coffee and croissant. Hotel reception staff were young, inexperienced and lacking knowledge. Most seemed to be training on the job. The older staff needed to return to charm school. Hotel management appeared weak, lacking focus on service and only counting the euros. No weekend repair service for any room faults. If your company or your government's tax payers were funding your stay lucky you. This hotel does not cater for couples or those on holiday. Avoid, there must be much better hotels at more reasonable prices in Brussels - or, are they all only interested in the business customer?
The hotel had an excellent location in the heart of the capital. The room was a bit old-fashioned and its walls should be re-painetd because of their dirt. The check- in peronnel were polite and almost always took care of us. The breakfast was great, versatile and abundant. The breakfast room was clean and had enough light.
We stays in Brussels for 2 nights in April at this hotel.
Location is very good. However, there are other hotels in the area as well.
The check in process was kinda slow. I asked to ensure that they assign me a room with two twin beds since I was traveling with my teenage son. They sent up to our room and it was a king room. We had to come back down and get a new room.
The room is bigger than typical hotel rooms in Europe. We have stayed at NH hotel in Florence and it was nice but the room was smaller. This room with two twin beds side by side has a toilet in a separate room from the shower and sink area. The bathroom is a good size, but not a lot of counter space to put your stuff. Also there is only one mirror in the room at the sink, so you can't put makeup on or doing your hair in the bedroom area while someone else is using the bathroom.
After hot shower, there were condensation all over the bathroom and toilet. I think the ventilation wasn't very good. It felt damp in the room.
The location is good, but I will try other hotel next time.
Nice hotel with a great location. The hotel was safe and clean. It is conveniently located to Central Station, the Grand Place, Sablon, Rue Neuve, Marolles, the Bourse, Dansaert, etc. The room was quiet, and the bed was comfortable.
Having not visited this hotel for 25 years (it was then privately owned), we were surprised to see the improvements that had been made. Complete makeover, top to bottom. Rooms A1. The best breakfast we have found in this price range hotel anywhere in the last 10 years. Something for everyone and more! Staff were friendly and helpful. The whole place was clean and tidy.
One downside is the lifts are very small. Only 4 people per journey without luggage. Alternative stairs are very steep and narrow so difficult with a suitcase. Some unavoidable road noise if you have room at the front of he building.
