How to Get There
Although very close to the Grand Palace, the noise from the streets continue throughout the night and can easily be heard through the walls (and we were on the 7th floor). There is no bar fridge or coffee making facilities, these are only available in the executive suites. The 7th floor gets extremely hot and throughtout our stay (4 nights) the airconditioning didnt work. The windows open inwards, which is an obstacle in itself and although they may let in a cool breeze (remember the air conditioner is not working), the street noise (yelling and party revelers) keeps even the deafest awake. Opening the windows is another challenge, if you can get past the curtains, the walls, or the mounted mirror, they work fine. There is no safe in the room for your valuables. The shower is in the centre of the bath tub (another obstacle), the light switch for the bathroom is on the outside of the bathroom/toilet (behind a door), there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom and only one light worked. The bed is like a banana, sinks in the middle and bends up either end. There is something that resembles pillows on the bed but thankfully we brought our own. The elevator system works on 2 doors, which are slow and clunky. The decor and carpets in the rooms are old and certainly need replacing, ours had lots of stains on them. Breakfast is good (7th floor), but can be noisy in the morning if your room is also on that floor. Internet worked well (most of the time) and the location is very handy as a hub for tours. The gymnasium is very limited and there are no laundry facilities.
Someone came in my room in this hotel as I slept, the locks are easy to break in apparently and it happens all the time. They came in in the middle of the night as I was sleeping and robed me. Hotel could care less. Not even an apology, looking on line I discovered this happens VERY often in this hotel. It's also dirty, smelly and without proper sound proofing. Don't just go away, RUN from this hotel, as far as you can!. Find any other hotel in Brussels, it's better than this!.
This dilapidated hotel is located on a street with many bars next to the tourist hotspot of the Grand Place. My room had almost no soundproofing which meant I was kept awake well past 2am by drinkers and revelling tourists outside.
The room was shabby and cramped. There was no drinkable water in the room or kettle to make refreshments. While the breakfast was decent and the location good for the price, it doesn't make up for the lack of comfort or sleep.
The Floris Arlequin is in the heart of touristy Brussels, about a block away from Grand Place. While the room furnishings were a bit dated in this reasonably priced facility, the room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and everything worked properly.
The staff were friendly and accommodating.
There were at least a dozen restaurants with in a few meters of the entrance to the hotel. Emporiums serving delicious waffles could be found found across the Grand Place.
Breakfast was a bonus. Not only was it very good, but it was served on the top floor of the hotel with a fine view of the Grand Place.
For those driving, a secure car park is about 50 meters from the front door.
We chose the hotel for its centric location. And we were missled by high rating and good fotos. I am afraid the positiv reviews might be fake. Look at the fotos we took in the room. Luckily it was just one night stay. The room corridors, elevator - all very shabby and dirty. The bed wasnt really comfortable and the blankets were very thin( not proper for the temperature in the room). The sound isolation was extremely poor. Due to the road works it is impossible to reach the building in a car, so get prepared to walk with your suitcases. From positiv aspects I can mention friandliness of personnel and beautiful view from breakfast area. Somehow it did not compensate the unpleasant feeling of being offered this poor room for the money we paid.
