How to Get There
First off, deceiving room photos based on trip advisor and booking.com photos.
LOCATION: We arrived via taxi from the train station. Approximately 20 minute drive €10. As other reviews state the taxi can only go so far so you must push your luggage via the cobblestone street. We weren’t bothered since we had 1 carry on
size luggage each. VERY close to shops, restaurants, bars, Grand Place. I’m guessing you’re only paying for location because everything else was terrible.
STAFF: NEVER followed through with any request. 1.) A light in our bathroom went out it was too dark to safely shower I called reception and a man stated he couldn’t help till 2030... mind you it was 4:30pm. I stayed we had dinner reservations and we needed this fixed ASAP to get ready. It took FOREVER for him to come up. 2.) our blow dryer kept going off I asked for this to be fixed no one ever came. 3.) we were told there was a bar here so of course when we needed water we went to the lobby then they stated “well we are renovating”. One disappointment after another 4.) our room got really stuffy but having the 1 windows open made it really cold since it was raining and windy SO we turn on the “Central AC” to heat up the place with filtered air since this is one of the amenities supposedly offered. Well it doesn’t work ( just like everything else ). The thing just blew our tons of cold air and never got warm. After giving it an hour I call and the guy in the lobby states “ oh well yes the heater doesn’t work it just gets cold”.
ROOM: disgusting old dirty looking carpet. Room was overall just poor... but if I’m trying to be positive we didn’t get bit by bedbugs.
So if you’re looking for a place with poor service, unpromised amenities , but a good location book it... ALTHOUGH I’m sure you can find a WAYYY better 3-star hotel!
This hotel was under construction when we went. We were not previously notified. Upon getting to the room, we started hearing loud construction noises. We thought it wouldn't be so bad because they would obviously stop by nighttime. We were wrong. We went downstairs several times in a single night; each time they assured us they would stop, but they kept going within minutes. Construction continued until 1:30AM. They also decided to dye the sofas on all the floors with a very strong-smelling dye. This permeated the floors for over a day. Furthermore, construction workers were allowed into our room while we were out to install a mirror. We were never asked and only noticed when we came back and saw the mirror. Lastly, the safe was not working and despite two separate requests for this to be rectified, no help was given. They offered no money back, no apologies, not even a complimentary bottle of champagne or anything of the sort to apologize. Reception was absolutely careless and quite rude. We do not recommend this hotel.
Just spend 6 nights here. This is a clean centric hotel. Walking distance from train station and Grand Plaza. Breakfast is good lacks variety but still ok. Two things they forgot to mention that the hotel had no access by car so you need to walk with your luggage in cover stones street. And second they are remodeling the lobby and if you arrive too early to get your room you will have no place to wait. We sat on a couple of boxes until we got our room. Don’t get me run the staff did what they could with what they had but very disturbing after 8 hrs in a plane. Rooms are small but very clean. And had air conditioning. If I go back I might stay as I will be prepare for the issues.
Although there is no road noise because of the location on a side walking street, and little noise from other rooms or hallways sounds very loud in your room. And when somebody uses the elevator, it sounds like they are coming through the wall. I had a single room on the 6th floor. Room was tiny and bed was horrible as it was very lumpy. Also only one half sized pillow. Wifi was poor, and at times never worked. Breakfast was very good, even had bacon and eggs. Location is close to central station, and major attractions
No frills here. Comfortable and clean rooms with air conditioning. Breakfast on 7th floor was fine. It’s decor is a bit dated and could do with a refurb. On the whole, good value. I would consider staying here again.
