How to Get There
Have to say, we are stunned at seeing the recent reviews. The place was lovely and the service was superb. We had a lovely room, very clean and very modern. Tea and coffee in there, iron etc. Didn't have a hair dryer and rang reception and one came up in 5 minutes. All the staff were always so helpful and cheerful.
The food was superb and we never waited for any meal. The dinner portions arent huge, and charging £4 extra for 4 scallops was a bit steep but it's a health place and we never left hungry. Breakfast and lunch are both buffets anyway and the food is always delicious.
The facilitates are great, Changing rooms are nice, Lovely big pool and plenty of beds. There is a session in the mineral pool which is great and we did yoga(£6 and well worth it), indoor cycling with great screen so you go up mountains and Saturday evening was a lovely piano recital in the library and of course there's the gym which has plenty of gear.
And yes there is a lovely pub a 12 minutes walk away, loads of real ales ....you can take this healthy lifestyle too far..
We will 100% be coming back.
Almost forgot although check out was at 11, you can leave luggage and stay until 4pm and use lockers and they store luggage...
I must say I actually enjoyed my time at Champneys on Wednesday 21st of September, the facilities were decent as were the food, my issue is pretty simple.
I was left in such a relaxed state when at the spa, I walked out minus my trunks, which were designer and new.
Since Wednesday I have left 3 messages with reception and direct with lost property, sent 1 emails and not received so much as a holding email.
I have genuinely had better service at my local leisure centre or local pubs when I have left property behind.
It seems really basic for someone to take ownership and simply call back and give an update as I have been nothing but polite, the Champneys name is good so why tarnish it with a basic lack of customer service for what is a premium service.
This is something that should really be addressed as it leaves a lasting impression.
Beautiful rooms- we had one that had been refurbished. However I had called ahead to request a double bed and we arrived to find two singles. This was sorted out quickly as the reception found someone to zip them together though this took some time! Gardens and facilities were excellent and beautiful, however service was extremely slow. We were waiting for dinner 20+ plus to be seated on every occasion and waited around 10-15 minutes to be seated for breakfast and even lunch which is a buffet. The place seemed to be fairly short staffed - which is a shame because it is so beautiful and has such potential to be a perfect weekend away.
