How to Get There
My family really enjoyed our stay here. The room was spacious and clean. We stayed in the bungalow style rooms. Our view was of trees and the ocean view rooms so you can’t see the beach from these. You can call for someone to pick you up from your room and take you to the pool and vice versa or you can walk. It’s not a far walk but there is a steep section and several steps. (It’s not a bad walk. The worst part about walking are the mosquitoes, so you definitely want to bring bug spray.) The pool is very nice. It has a toddler pool, hot tube, and the main pool which is about 4 feet deep. The beach is very nice and the hotel owns the dive shop. For $55, we were able to have unlimited rentals of the snorkeling gear and a stand up paddle board, (and another board that I’m not sure of the name) throughout our stay. The staff was very friendly and even bumped our stay a day to the right because our flight there was delayed a day. They also have an airport shuttle that will take you to and from the airport. If you come to Roatan this is a great option but be prepared for mosquitoes and endless vendors walking along the rope that divides the public and private part of the beach.
You won't find a better location and better hotel in West Bay....reef is just a few feet from the shore, best place to do snorkeling without the need to hire a boat. It is on the quiet side of West Bay, away from all the noise of the other hotels. Staff is friendly and the building is top notch.
The property and the room was amazing. The reason I did not give this place 5 stars is because we had repetitive issues with our room keys (5 times), and it took them until day 4 to fix the issue. Overall I would recommend this place for a relaxed get away.
The Grand Roatan felt like a boutique hotel. I enjoyed the infinity pool right on the beach, jacuzzi, there was also plenty of natural shade, even in the pool. Snorkeling right outside was amazing. The tour boats from West End took tourists here for snorkeling. Free Breakfast was amazing, especially on our first day. Jimmy was so kind to us and explained that we could even order extras that weren’t on a menu (french toast, side of bacon, and hush browns, freshly squeezed juices, cappuccino). All at no extra cost. We could also eat anything from the buffet in addition to our order. On our second day the wait staff wasn’t as nice, but we already knew what we could get.
We had dinner at Fosters down the West Bay beach, where they had 2 lobster tails and 2 sides for $20 and 2 for 1 drinks. The bartender Carlos was simply the best!
I was tempted to take off one star for the issue we had with our room that wasn’t fixed. There was a bat (or another creature) in our ceiling that made noise at night. It broke one of the lights. We told the front desk and they said maintenance will come check it out. On our second nught the creature was still there. No one offered us a different room even though it was slow season. At the end of our stay we complained again and we got an apology from a nice front desk person but no credit or anything for inconvenience.
Stayed there the first week of September with my boyfriend and it was the best week of vacation ever! The staff was wonderful to us, especially Kenny, Joel, Luisa, Alvaro & Dennis ( el pingüino hahaha ) We had our whole week planned out thanks to Osman working at the activity booth. The beautiful clear watered beach was the cherry on top. We will most definitely be back! 🇸🇻💙
