Beautifully preserved 16th-century inn with period details and a courtyard bar in Strasbourg's historic heart
In a beautiful half-timbered building dating from the 16th century, the Cour du Corbeau (Crow’s Courtyard) is one of France’s best–loved hotels. The 57 guest rooms blend period details (solid oak flooring, wood beams) with modern must-haves (air conditioning, WiFi). All feature Louis XV–style furniture, and some look out onto the courtyard or the garden. The contemporary bathrooms come with twin vanities, stone floors and either a tub or a shower. The building’s heritage status limits what can be done with the space, so there’s no gym or spa, or even a restaurant, but the petite bar has an alfresco terrace on the secluded cobblestone courtyard. And there are plenty of restaurants, bistros and cafés within strolling distance.
In the Area
Strasbourg’s Cathédrale de Notre-Dame is a Gothic masterpiece with stained glass, an astronomical clock and a viewing platform that offers vistas of the city (after a 332-step climb). The city is easy to explore by bike, and there’s an extensive cycle network and tons of parking options. Rent a bike from Velhop, a nonprofit company with several outlets. The city’s Grande Ile (Big Island; home to the cathedral) is full of eye-catching half-timbered buildings and places to eat and drink, including Maison Kammerzell, a traditional restaurant in a house that dates from 1427.
How to Get There
Cour du Corbeau was our second MGallery hotel...and I continue to be impressed with the combination of historically fascinating structures surrounding modern convenience. Cour du Corbeau is a fascinating building, staff were professional, and our room was modern and comfortable.
My only regrets are that 1) I scheduled only 2 nights at Hotel Cour du Corbeau and 2) due to train problems, we did not arrive until quite late the first night and so had little time to take advantage of all the hotel had to offer. We will certainly return here next time we're in Strasbourg.
The hotel walls date from the 1500's, but all modern amenities are contained in the rooms. We were warmly greeted by the front desk staff and they told us we were upgraded to a suite. Very nice. It had a great shower, very comfortable bed, and the suite had 2 bathrooms. The hotel was quiet and very conveniently located to the best areas of town.
I stayed in this hotel on my business trip to Strasbourg for the 3 days. This place is absolutely charming, especially when you're in love with places with history (like I am in:). The room I stayed in was spacious and very comfortable. I enjoyed the breakfast very much because of it's variety, which is standard in a hotel of this class. Nothing too fancy. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient, located in the centre of the old Strasbourg. There is also a parking house close to the hotel. All in all a great experience!
