Travelers' Choice
There are certain pleasures that are only available to those that stay at the Hotel Colón. For example, waking up early in the morning, crossing over to the window, pulling aside the curtains, and seeing the image of the Barcelona Cathedral bathed in the sun’s first rays. It’s an image that will fill you with energy throughout the whole day! Many of our 129 rooms in the hotel offer this privilege, in addition to amenities such as air-conditioning, telephone, LCD television with international channels, high-speed Internet, safety deposit box, a well-stocked mini-bar, and the finishing touches of a 4 star hotel. If you are traveling for leisure, after a nice shower and a full breakfast, you’ll find it convenient to have the main tourist attractions within walking distance. If you are traveling for professional reasons, having two ample lounges at your disposal offers you infinite options for any event, convention, business meeting, or celebration. In both cases, it’s good to know that, for lunch or dinner, you can depend on the excellent service at the Cathedral 1951 restaurant. All of these reasons make a stay at the Hotel Colón unforgettable. What more can you ask of a hotel?

30+ years ago my parents stayed at Hotel Colon when I was studying in Barcelona. Now our daughter is doing her semester abroad there and I couldn't wait to make a reservation! We just stayed 4 nights and it was wonderful with only a couple of minor issues - the rooms are very hot so we kept the doors open all day/night which, of course, was loud. But that's what ear plugs are for. We also were told we couldn't use our free drink cards for 2 beers at the outdoor terrace. But overall it was everything I'd hoped it would be - views of the cathedral are amazing and the hotel is close to everything. It was so fun to see Barcelona through my daughter's eyes and so nostalgic. ¡Muchísimas gracias por todo!

Our stay was second to none. This was a second time staying at the hotel as we stayed back in October 2023. In March we stayed for my birthday and I must say that Raquel and Olga and Eva and Jean-Paul and David were pleased to see Dean and I and made our stay as always relaxing and organised as possible. The true passion of hospitality is within Raquel and her team. She is a wonderful person, very intelligent and knowledgeable and no question or query was to much. Our room was bday decorated by Raquel and the team and was greatly appreciated. They go and above and beyond and I most sincerely believe Raquel deserves to be recognised for her dedication of service.

My wife and I spent 7 nights here 2/16 - 2/23 and it was perfect from start to finish. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly especially Sebastian and Zhor these guys really made our trip that much more enjoyable. The room (510) had perfect views of the cathedral from its two balconies, it was also extremely spacious and up to date. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety, the bread was incredible. The location was perfect we were really close to all of the major sights and there is a taxi stand 30 feet from the front door. There are a ton of excellent restaurants within walking distance and shops too. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Barcelona. Thank you Hotel Colon for a great stay.

I had such a lovely stay at the hotel and Barcelona overall. The room me and my family booked was very spacious. Everything was local, and breakfast was excellent (had vegan sausages on request and as well as an omelette on request) which was another positive. The staff were really helpful and friendly with recommending local spots as well as security who always greeted us nicely. I'd love to list down every staff member's name but honestly, everyone was so lovely. We booked a visit to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya directly from the hotel which I highly recommend booking if you love art. The lovely hotel driver dropped us off for free. When staying at the hotel, you can never get enough of the beautiful views during sunset and the gorgeous view of the cathedral and other surroundings. Also during our stay, we really enjoyed the festival which we briefly checked out. I would say that apart from the positives the downsides to the hotel are that our bathroom door had an issue with the lock, water bottles which is a necessity weren't free which was a letdown, the lifts were quite slow and we did not have a nice view. For the price we paid expected water bottles to be free and have a better view. I highly recommend this hotel and definitely can't wait to return. Muchas gracias! Side note, if you were two men (glasses and a hoodie) in the lift on the evening of 9th February with me and my sister (red dress and white skirt), thanks for the help with our card that wasn't working you guys were so cute.

Dear Ms Hanna, We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with us. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the spacious room and the convenience of our central location, complemented by our varied breakfast options catering to different dietary needs. It's particularly gratifying to know that the views from our hotel enhanced your experience of the beautiful Barcelona sunsets. We regret to hear about the bathroom door lock issue and understand that the water bottle cost was not to your expectation. Please rest assured that we aim to provide exceptional service and amenities that align with the value we offer. While we do provide a complimentary selection of tea, coffee, and a bottle of water upon arrival, we appreciate your feedback on this matter. Additionally, we are aware that the elevators can experience high demand, and while they are designed to serve our guests efficiently, we apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced. We also hope that, in the future, you might have the opportunity to enjoy one of our rooms with the stunning Cathedral views that many of our guests admire. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay. Warm regards, The Management

The location of this hotel is perfect - on the edge of the old quarter so convenient to all of Barcelona's tourist activities. As a group, we had five rooms with cathedral views, all on different floors and not close to each other. Quite lovely, but a big mistake - it was chilly in Barcelona, but we couldn't leave the windows open at night because of the insane noise from the plaza. And, all the rooms and hallways were uncomfortably hot, none of us had the heat on. When we mentioned this to the front desk, they were defensive, and told us that the A/C is turned off Nov. 1. I understand that strictly speaking it is not needed, but since the hallways and all the rooms were unpleasantly warm and couldn't be cooled off, CLEARLY they need individually controlled A/C. Supposedly this is a four star hotel~! As a travel advisor, I will not send my clients here because no one could sleep. Breakfast buffet was good, but we found many of the employees not particularly friendly or helpful. The lobby area is lovely, and the exterior of the hotel also charming. But, with room temps close to 75 degrees with no heat on, this is NOT the place to stay. Also, the rooms had no art work or decorations on the wall, and the desks were so close to the bed that if one person was working, the other person could not get by. They need to do some remodeling!

It's great to know that our breakfast buffet met your expectations. However, we regret to hear about the discomfort due to the room temperature and the noise levels. There was a renovation on the third floor and we had a superior deluxe room on the third floor. They start working sometimes at 9:00 sometimes at 7:53 am and we wake up hearing that noise. They did both tell us in advance that there is such a “construction”.

Beautiful, large rooms with amazing views of the majestic Barcelona Cathedral. Every day we open our door and hear the beautiful music played at the steps of the cathedral. On Sunday we watched the crowds dance in the square. It is the perfect location for walking anywhere—to the waterfront or to Sagrada Familia. The breakfast is amazingly delicious and you can order eggs to accompany your breakfast. We love the view and the helpful staff. We stay here every time we are in Barcelona. The upstairs bar gives you a great view of the city. The hotel is peaceful and quiet from 10:00 PM into the morning hours.

I booked into the Hotel Colon which seemed like a pleasant enough place with a good location. Upon arriving at my room I wanted to rest a little to get over jet lag. I heard noises coming from a nearby room and assumed it was a bit of work to repair something. The work continued and increased in volume with drilling, hammering, and scraping without let up. I went to the front desk to ask how long this would continue and was told there was work in progress. I asked why this was not disclosed prior to my booking or upon arrival and got no answer. I asked to speak with the manager and was told she was getting out of a meeting and would I wait in the lobby, which I agreed to do. After about five or more minutes of waiting I decided to go back to my room where the noise and work continued. Receiving no call from the manager after sometime I began to search on line for another hotel and found a nice one around the corner (Hotel Barcelona Catedral). I repacked my bags and went down to reception where the manger was now speaking to the desk clerk. I told the clerk I was checking out and did not expect to be billed for the room. The manger gave a half-hearted apology and said there was renovation of the hotel in progress. (You could hear the noise at the reception desk as well). I asked why I was not informed of this in advance and again received no answer. I asked how long the work would continue during the day and was astounded to be told from 10:00 - 17:00hrs each day. I asked where she receive her hotel management training and was told the hotel was privately owned (not by a corporation). I again reiterated that I was not to be billed for the room and checked out. The bellmen assisted with the bags and refused a tip. They were very sympathetic and kind. The manager never offered to help me find a hotel, offer transportation or any compensation. The bellmen should be running the hotel - not the management.

From the moment that we arrived this hotel provided one of the best travel experiences. My room had a direct view of the cathedral in a large open square. The room was ample but simple, breakfast and restaurant wonderful. All of the staff gracious and helpful from the concierges to the breakfast room staff. Laundry service speedy and reasonable. The roof top bar and restaurant is an invaluable asset also overlooking the cathedral. Location wonderful because you can walk to the Rambla, the opera house, the Palau de la Musica Catalana, the Picasso Museum, Quatre Gats, the port, and the Place Catalunya. A taxi stand is next to the hotel on the side street should you need one. This is a 4 star hotel that acts as a 5 star.
