Fun party pad with a rooftop pool and bar on Bangkok’s bustling Sukhumvit Road
From the oversize prints of Bangkok street scenes to the peppermint scent that is pumped through the air conditioning system, everything about the Galleria 10 revolves around sanuk, the Thai word for fun. And the eighth floor is where the party's at, from sunbathing by the rooftop pool to sundowners on sofas made of polished concrete at the Leapfrog Bar and Grill.
Bed & Bath
A bold stencil drawing of Bangkok's skyline sets the scene in every room, and curvy egg chairs in primary colors stand in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Colorful patterned carpets meet polished hardwood floors, and glass-topped end tables and work desks are complemented by sturdy office chairs. A sliding frosted glass door separates the bedroom and the (compact) bathroom, where intricate black mosaics continue the skyline theme. Premier Deck Rooms come with private balconies furnished with bright orange tables and chairs.
The lobby-level @g restaurant serves breakfast and a reasonably priced lunch buffet. Starting at 4:30 p.m. you can head to the eighth-floor Leapfrog Bar and Grill for tapas-style dishes and cocktails. The large rooftop pool is surrounded by jumbo purple deck chairs and has a retractable roof for all-weather swimming. The gym is on the small side, but it has cardio machines and free weights and offers views of the neighborhood.
In the Area
Close to the intersection of Asoke and Sukhumvit roads, the Galleria 10 is surrounded by shopping, nightlife and sightseeing options. Both the Nana and Asoke Skytrain stations are a 10-minute walk from the hotel, and the equally convenient Sukhumvit MRT station is located beneath the Asoke station. Visit Jim Thompson House to see how the grandfather of the modern silk industry revived this classic Thai art. It's a great way to take in traditional architecture and design, too. Or head to the Monks Bowl Village (Ban Bat) in eastern Bangkok to see craftsman fashion eight metal strips (representing the eight fold path) into beautiful alms bowls. The Bangkok Art and Cultural Center is conveniently located in Siam Square and has an ever-changing array of movies, art and music on offer. Terminal 21 is the closest mall to the property; it's home to a variety of Thai and international designers.
